algae on back glass = algae on plants?

thanks newfound*... so it's basically one or the other then? can't have the two living together in harmony? that's a shame.. But just to be sure I understand.. so say I have a tank that never had plants.. the back glass is never cleaned so is eventually coated with algae. I now introduce...

algae on back glass = algae on plants?

Hi guys, Does the amount of algae (green mossy/short haired type) allowed to grow elsewhere in an aquarium affect it's ability to grow on live plants? What I mean is, in my tank I allow the algae for the most part to cover the back glass and also to grow on some of my larger rocks.. I actually...

    roots above substrate?

Wow, those are some serious tools! They have some cool stuff over on those sites. I'm torn, but I think I'll give the el-cheapo version a try to see how they work.. If the pliers actually allow me to replant things that would be great as my goldfish are constantly pulling my ludwigia up. I...

Thanks for the replies.. Nothing but the best for my boys! Hehe, actually I do know that I am taking chance with the goldfish but figured I would give it a try this once. Maybe I'll get lucky and they will all be friends... if not, then oh well, they get a nice treat (just don't tell the guys...

amano shrimp set up house in filter..

thanks both for the reply.. I think they are munching at the stuff on the filter pads.. maybe once they clean them off they will start work on the plants..:-) As for the temp issue with the goldfish I won't have to worry about that till winter hits... and even then it rarely gets much below...

amano shrimp set up house in filter..

Hi all, quick question.. I recently added some amano shrimp to my 20g (2 fancy goldfish) and 10g (bunch of Platys and 3 Corys) tanks to help keep my plants clean. The thing is, the shrimp seem to want to live inside my Whisper HOB filters. I'm am assuming that the little buggers are climbing...
