To cut or not to cut?

I bought mine from a cut, and it is doing fine in my tank. The guy who cut it said it is fairly easy to cut as long as your waters are in good condition. If this is your first time cutting an anemone, I would suggest cutting in half instead of trying to cut it in 4.

    Ziggy953's 150 Build errrr....120 Build

Glad your cloudy water cleared up after a little time, mine took almost a week to clear to the point where I could see :).

    Ziggy953's 150 Build errrr....120 Build

You could always do what I did, put wood board on the stand as a top, then shim the underside of the wood board where it is not touching the tank with playing cards. If its too big of a gap you would have to cut some pieces of wood to shim that spot until everything is even.

My 75g upgrade after just 3 months of reefing :)

Yeah got it fixed, I opened my drain line from a 1" all the way up to 2". So now there is bottleneck at the bulkhead but by the time the water reach the 2" line that goes to the sump, there is no gurgle and not that much air bubbles as well. I will post pictures tomorrow when I have time to...

Schooling Fish For The Reef Aquarium

I was thinking of doing the same thing in my 75, and I am split between chromis and anthias. Right now you can get a group of anthias on Ebay for a decent price. I am leaning on the anthias side, they are a little more expensive but nicer looking IMO.

My 75g upgrade after just 3 months of reefing :)

Nope top of T is completely open, I have a cap on it that I drilled 3, 1/4" hole so that air can escape, but I can also take the cap off completely. I would still get a gurgle every couple of minutes. I am thinking of taking that T off and go with one of those %45 Ts, and also upgrade to a...

My 75g upgrade after just 3 months of reefing :)

Alright got my sump in and working. But a slight problem, could you guys take a look and see if I am doing anything wrong? Whats happening is I am getting a gurgling sound like water is being held back at the T when I try to boost the return up a bit. Right now I have the valve open...

Need help settling debate with wife

they could come on some frags you got also. I got at least 3 on the frags that I purchase and on trades. They are really small at first, I believe that they are whitish also when small. They don't get their dark color until they get a bit bigger.

    Frogspawn Fragging?

You can use a jig saw to cut the skeletal part also. I did that when I got the 3 head frogspawn that was full of aptasia, worked out pretty well for me using it.

    Goofy Clownfish

mine floats flat on its side on the top corner of my tank when the lights go out. Did that in my 40, and now in my 75.

My 75g upgrade after just 3 months of reefing :)

I appreciate the concern cccapt, but I looked at that center brace before doing that. And I think that the integrity of the tank is still there even after drilling the holes. But to be on the safe side I will glue down a strip of acrylic to not have any mishaps. Here are some pics just as...

My 75g upgrade after just 3 months of reefing :)

Cmor is right my tank did cycle, but it only lasted a few days. It could have lasted longer but I only started to test after about 2 weeks and only took me about 4 days for all the traces to reach near zero. I finally transfered my 40 over to the 75, took 2 days to do it though. I only have...

A couple new frags from trade and at LFS

My first expensive coral purchase. Cheapest of all Acans at the store though :). Notice all the little polyp at the bottom right of the frag, man I hope these grow fast. I think I have about 10 of them down there. Could someone help me identify these? Got them at fish store but forgot what...

    New Acan frags

Acans seem to catch food the easiest of all corals in my tank. Whenever I feed my tank they would gobble up at least 2-3 pieces per polyp. So I don't know about others that have these corals, but mine doesn't need spot feeding at all.

My 75g upgrade after just 3 months of reefing :)

So what do you guys recommend on how to transfer stuff over? Should I keep the other tank running and transfer some LR to get the cycle going? I have about 40# of LR in my system right now. A local reefer gave me about 30-40# of base that I can use. And also my brother's boss is tearing his...

My 75g upgrade after just 3 months of reefing :)

My Lfs told me to transfer my old water into my new tank so that I would be able to minimize the cycle if it does happen again. Whether it is true or not I don't see any harm in doing that, water from my 40 has good parameters so why not. Now if I had high anything that I don't want then I...

My 75g upgrade after just 3 months of reefing :)

This is aragonite sugar fine sand, the stuff I got in my 40g tank was also aragonite but a lot coarser in size. Didn't plan on cycling this tank as I was planning on transfering the 40 over and using most of the water from the 40. But they way things look, I am not moving anything over until...

My 75g upgrade after just 3 months of reefing :)

Ok here is an update of my setup. Ran some electrical wiring for my lights. Funny thing was I measured out my wires too exact and not giving me any work room. Had to completely rewire the whole setup. Still have more wiring to do, taking my good old time :) Drilled all the holes I need for...

My 75g upgrade after just 3 months of reefing :)

Today took down the tank to drill some holes on the center brace so I can get more lights down into the tank. Battery ran out on the drill so only got this far. used leftover pieces of my wood floor to make the counter top for the stand. Worked out quite well all the pieces fit together...

My 75g tank is now up and ready for the move. I am moving everything from my 40 which I will be turning into the sump into the 75. Here are some pictures so you guys can see the progress of the build Right behind this tank is where I will be putting my 75 Lucky for me there is a big closet...

    Blender Mush, Whats your recipie?

How do you guys know what they eat and what they don't? When I pureed my food, everything looks the same (except for the carrot and broccoli that I added). And I use one of those hand blender to make sure the end product isn't that mushy, which turned out to be a really good consistency. Once...
