    Jimbo's IM 25g Lagoon

Conduit actually only took one try surprisingly. I did plenty of googling on "Back to Back 90's" and watched quite a few how to videos before attempting. Cycle finished sometime around Wednesday, added more ammonia to make sure everything was working and Thursday levels were still good. This...

    2.5 gallon coral reef?

What kind of corals are you interested in? If you are interested in mostly zoas and softies 2.5 will be fine. If you want to do a mix or get into SPS you still could do the 2.5 but a 5 or 10 is going to give you a lot more room for growth and more stable parameters. I tried mostly SPS in a 3g...

    After all these years.

Haha ain't that the truth. This place used to look completely different. Back then there was a lot more battling between the forums and this was the go-to place it seemed if you wanted a great community and low drama. I'm hoping that the people who shaped that are still around!

    Jimbo's IM 25g Lagoon

Starting a build log for the ol' 25g Lagoon. I have to say so far I am really happy with this tank. It's built really well and the shallow dimensions really give it a lot of depth. I'm incredibly antsy to start filling it up. Tank: Innovative Marine 25g Lagoon Stand: DIY ADA Style Stand...

    After all these years.

Hey everyone. I've been outta the game for quite some time, I used to be real active round these parts. Looking forward to getting back in, hopefully there are still some old friends around. Just got an IM 25g Lagoon thats cycling now, I'll be putting up a build log soon over in the member tank...

    Ziggy's Nano Build (again)

Love that bonsai. One of my favorites. Glad to see you are still in the SW game!

    SPS coral chart

Good start! The only thing I would say is that its really hard to compare all the different light types (CF, T5, MH, LED, etc) in one realm like watts/gallon. Each light has very different lumen and par output, and even the bulb manufacturer can make a huge difference. I wouldn't ever say X...

    Adding new tank mate

Cleaner shrimps are another great one. Very calm and always out and about. The only ones I would stay away from are pistol shrimp and coral banded shrimp. The pistol and your watchman goby could get along great and have a symbiotic relationship, or they might compete for burrows. It depends on...

    Mushroom

Can you get a better picture? Its hard to see anything in this one.

    Are my levels ok?

The short answer? Higher salt levels means more salt, more salt means more money. They are trying to keep costs down. As long as they have good practices of acclimation from their vendor, and you acclimate correctly when you get the fish home, there shouldn't be problems.

about to give up on my 24 aquapod

UV isnt going to do much against cyano unfortunately. Cyano only really grows when it can hold onto something, if it is in the water column its on its first step to death. Q's: Is your tank in direct sunlight in the day? What do you mean by "fresh food"? Race is correct in the feeding part, as...

    Frogspawn trouble

How long has it been retracted? Have you made any flow adjustments recently? Are any of your fish hanging around it? Are there any physical signs of sickness? If it has been closed for over a week, i would try moving it somewhere else. There might have been a slight shift in your flow that is...

    Coralline algae

Chances are there are a couple different strains of coralline in your tank. What is probably happening is that your tank doesnt have the same conditions as the previous tank so certain strains that could have grown very well before, might be dying in your tank. No big deal! A different strain is...

    Lots of newbie questions!

If you add dry base rock to a tank with livestock, it will be fine. Rinse it really well in RO water and maybe give it a quick scrub to get some of the dust/loose stuff off. It will become live in time. Moving live rock from tank to tank can be a little more tricky. A lot of times LR has dead...

    Different type of clown together?

It could be that they are young enough they haven't reached sexual maturity, so they aren't anything right now. Its hard to say. If they are both that small, you might be able to do it. I would worry that they will fight early on for either dominance, or being separate breeds, and you may not...

    Coralline algae

coralline generally grows much faster on glass/plastic/powerheads. I have no idea why, but getting a good coating of it along your rocks will take time. If it is growing well on your glass then your levels are ok, you just have to be patient! The only thing that happens quickly in this hobby is...

    My 10 gallon reef

What kind of lights do you have? The easiest SPS in my experience are any tabling montipora. The very basic green, orange and purple ones you see everywhere. If you wanted an acro, one of the hardiest ones I ever had was a green slimer. They come in solid green shades that can vary, but if you...

    Different type of clown together?

How big are they? One should be much smaller then the other. Clownfish are sequential hermaphrodites, meaning as they grown they become males, and then females. The larger fish is always the female and is the dominant member. If a female dies, the male can change to become a female, and a...

    Biggest home aquarium

Not my build, but this is still one of the most stunning home builds i have ever seen. Custom build 1350 gallon display. http://petersfishtank.com/ The build thread is on RC. I can send you the link if you PM me. I don't like posting other forums here.

Got a few new frags!! Tell me what u think!

6/8 isnt bad! I'm afwul at softies, I've always been a SPS nut. I almost guessed cinnamon palys too! I've never seen them that bright before though, usually they are much more drab. Great pickups!

    Fish keep dying?

Moving tanks is always a gamble. It's so easy to stir up something nasty and do some serious damage. What species of fish have you lost? Were they showing any physical signs of sickness? What time frame did you lose each?

    My first SW tank!

Depends on how you feed your tank, if they can get a hold of enough food, smaller tanks are fine, but they do have hearty appetites and are aggressive to boot. I personally disagree with what liveaquaria says. I have seen them pull apart smaller members of a CUC and munch on them and have been...

Need idea for "show" fish for 55g

I know you probably know this, just clarifying for posterity sake. Anthias should never be housed "alone" they are a social fish and do well in groups. They can be kept in a species only tank. Most aren't shy eaters so much as they are finicky eaters. No two groups will eat the same thing it...

Need idea for "show" fish for 55g

Most do, but some of the smaller ones would do alright in a 55 as long as there is plenty of room in the water column to swim.
