Dwarf Gourami Breeding New to it

Interesting. Yes the first one I am calling the male has created a large bubble nest 2 or 3 times since I've had the pair. The male is much more vivid in color and he is much smaller then the female. The male was aggressive in protecting the bubble nest, but with no bubble nest he is a lot...

Dwarf Gourami Breeding New to it

So the up close one with his find spread out, I figure this is the male. He is the one who builds the nest. The gourami with the two black dots is the female and the aggressor of the new gourami. The photo with a gourami near some driftwood is the new gourami. couldn't get a great picture of...

    Multi Shrimp Breeder Log

Yeah I was honestly pretty surprised with the speed as well even after doing this for years. I hear some people waiting up to 6 months. It helped that I started off with a strong and large 30 shrimp colony.

    Multi Shrimp Breeder Log

Well I woke up today with baby shrimp in the yellow shrimp tank. They are still really small but will try to get some pictures. From when I use to breed this is the fastest I've gotten babies from purchase of original colony. It's great. Now it's time to focus on my next two aquariums for my...

    Baby Snail??!! What the heck??

Yeah. To be honest if you don't know what it is and you're worried about it. I'd suggest removing it, maybe throw it in a jar or another tank. Let it grow a bit to get a better idea.

    RCS critical, need help

I've also seen people just top off with no water changes with success. I personal only do 10 percent a week and also zero deaths. But that wasn't the point of my post. The reason I bring it up is when I saw him doing frequent 75 percent water changes as well as jumping them from tank to tank...

    RCS critical, need help

I think they just went through a lot of stress with all the changes in a short period of time. Shrimp like clean water but love stable water so I would turn away from water changes over 20 percent.

any advice for maintaining a "stable" environment for shrimp?

Ive seen people have success with minimal and maxium water changes. Shrimp like stable but also clean water. Having a feeding and cleaning schedule you stick to will be a good first step in gaining stable waters. After this you can work on specifics.

    cherry shrimp never grow

Yeah it sounds like you need to strengthen your blood line with shrimp from a different source. The normal life span of shrimp is around 2 years so your genetic line is just growing weak. Unless you've made changes to the tank that would effect them adding fresh blood is all I can think
