    Oak Leaves

Ok cool! So how exactly am I going to boil them? They are way larger than any pot I have, lol.

    Oak Leaves

Thanks guys! I think I'll go with no on the leaves if it's going to soften my water because if I don't keep a constant supply it'll cause PH swings, right? So why no on the branches?

    Oak Leaves

I was wondering if oak leaves will have any effect on my water? Do I just boil them and put them in there? Also, would dead oak branches and other branches in my backyard be safe? Thanks!!

    Rainwater

I just tested my tapwater with the high range PH test, and it's at least 8.8! Are you sure I should be using that?! Won't my PH just rise with every water change?

    Rainwater

Well thanks a lot guys...I think I'll take your advice and leave it alone. Would the same apply if I decide to get Killifish someday?

    Rainwater

So you're saying get spring water rather than distilled? Should I mix that half and half with my tapwater?

    Rainwater

Ok..so can I mix distilled water with tapwater without having PH swings? I know my fish are probably ok with it, but I'd still like to keep it at their ideal range, if that's possible without too many PH swings. Thanks a lot everyone! BTW it is a 20 g.

    Rainwater

I haven't used the high range PH test yet, so I only know it's at least 7.6. I'm currently keeping guppies, threadfin rainbows, cherry barbs, and a bristlenosed pleco and a tiger pleco.

    Rainwater

My PH is higher than I want it to be. I was thinking about collecting rainwater, what's your opinion on that? How would I know if my rainwater is polluted? What about distilled water? I can't afford a RO unit right now...

    Pleco species

Thanks! That does look a lot like it, also, sometimes lighter patches appear and sometimes it's almost completely black. I just assume it's trying to blend in.

    Pleco species

Sry can't figure out pic thing...do females not have bushy noses? Because mine definately doesn't. I have a Clown pleco also, so definately not that, it's slightly bigger and has polka dots.

    Pleco species

Any idea what kind of pleco this guy is? Probably imposible to tell. I've had him 2 years in a 20g long, and he's about 2". pictures.sprintpcs.com/wap/xhtml/photo/details.do?machineid=wmtp011&containerID=71819910146

    Cherry Barb eggs

Yes, they spent most the day swimming through the moss, him right behind her. I caught her a few times actually laying a couple eggs at a time.

    Cherry Barb eggs

Thanks! I kept them together for 24 hrs, then he started harassing her. My water temp is 78, and the tank has been running for akmost 3 years. I plan on feeding them Brine shrimp, what about hard-boiled egg yolk? Hopefully I'll see some soon, if not I'll do away with snails and try again.

    Cherry Barb eggs

Monday I moved them to my 10g with Java moss/Java fern until they were done. So shouldn't I see the fry by now? I moved the moss around and still saw nothing. Do you think my snails ate them? I've never bred egg-layers before.
