    Need assistance identifying fish

I picked this guy up yesterday, but I'm not exactly sure what he is. He was listed as a black red-tailed goby I think. His mouth is very similar to a mandarin, so I'm pretty sure he is a goby. Here's a pic: http://www.mygraveyard.com/fish.jpg Thanks!

Anemone & Going away on break.

Well, turns out I can probably have my fish fed every day, so I won't need an auto feeder, but I usually don't do any water changes, since I have a refugium setup and a well-established ecosystem, so I usually don't have to. I also add buffer to the water daily, so my water has stayed in very...

Anemone & Going away on break.

I'm in college and it's coming up on winter break, so I'll be away for 4 weeks. My plan is to buy an auto-feeder that will feed my fish daily and have someone come at least once a week to feed my anemone. I currently feed my bulb anemone maybe 4-5 frozen krill once a week. My question is...

    Undergravel Filter

I actually looked into an underwater filter such as a Hagen Fluval 3 Plus, and it looks like the best way to go. Thanks!

    Undergravel Filter

I'm setting up a freshwater aquarium in an old TV set. The tank itself is 29 gallons, and there's barely any room on top when you put it into the old TV frame, so I can't put a normal filter on. Because canister filters are so expensive, I think my only resort is to get an undergravel filter...

    Diggin' Damsel??

I have a true clownfish that's hosting a bulb anemone, and he's always in there at night, but he doesn't seem very protective of it at all. Sometimes my coral banded shrimp will actually go up to it and take food from it, and the clown does nothing. Strange huh? And do you think the shrimp is...

    Fish picking on Clown Goby

Yeah, I went ahead and ordered some branched coral. I hope it works, because he only swims around at night now, when the clown is sleeping. Every time he tries to swim around during the day the clown tries to bite him. Do you think this will eventually go away, aided by the addition of the...

    Fish picking on Clown Goby

I've had a yellow clown goby for about a week, and my fish keep picking on it. The main culprits are my six line wrasse, lawnmower blenny, and mainly my true clown. Every time the goby tries to leave his corner, which he sits in all day, the clown rushes at him and puts him back in his place...

    29 Gallon Retro-fitted lighting

I'm retro-fitting home depot bought florescent lights to an old TV set case where I will hold a 29 gallon tank. I plan to have plenty of live plants, how much light would I need?

    6-line Wrasse gone

Good news! I found it. It was swimming around in the small box where the intake for my refugium is. He was NOT happy, but at least he's alive. I don't know why I didn't check there before, probably because it was very unlikely. He must have jumped in, that's the only way. Anyway...

    Fan Algae

My friend gave me a dead fan algae, but it has non-toxic glow-in-the-dark paint on it. I'm going to soak it in saltwater in a bucket for a day, will it then be safe to put into my aquarium?

    6-line Wrasse gone

PrettyFishies, Yes, I do have 3 scarlet hermits and 1 blue hermet in addition to the shrimp.

    6-line Wrasse gone

I was away for 2 days and when I returned my aquarium was at 65 degrees because somehow my heater got unplugged. Everything in my tank survived, but I can't find my 6line wrasse. Is it possible that the temperature change could have killed him? If that's the case, it would have probably went...

Mysis Shrimp & Green Mandarin Goby

Oh, in that case yes, the case I was referring to involved the mandarin eating prepared food. Actually, the first day I put it in I saw it eating frozen food that landed on the rocks, so I think it'll be fine when it comes to food. When I bought it I asked the employees of the aquarium store...

Mysis Shrimp & Green Mandarin Goby

I know people that have had success with mandarins in 20gal tanks, so I thought I'd give it a go. What type of prepared foods do you mean?

Mysis Shrimp & Green Mandarin Goby

I just got a Green Mandarin Goby, and I've heard that they're not very fond of frozen food, even though I did see it eat one piece that was sitting on a rock today. When it comes to live mysis shrimp living in my tank, there were a lot of large visible ones before I put my 6line wrasse and all...

Lawnmower Blenny & Green Mandarin Goby

Is there any noted incompatablity between a Lawnmower Blenny and a Green Mandarin Goby? Because I put the Mandarin in my 20 gal yesterday and the Lawnmower seems to be "biting" at it a lot of times when it's right next to the Mandarin. Unless the lawnmower thinks that there's good tasting...

Bulb Anemone & Coral Banded Shrimp

I'm not sure what you mean about the stickiness... I talked to my local aquarium store and they said that it's probably ok, since it'll retract evertime something foreign touches it. I have a 20 high tank, and a 2-bulb 65 watt light, the one with 1 red and 1 blue, made by coralife. I also have...

Bulb Anemone & Coral Banded Shrimp

It's known to be reef safe, but also known to pick apart corals and anemones looking to get at their food. He doesn't seem to be doing this, just walking over it.

Bulb Anemone & Coral Banded Shrimp

I have a green bulb anemone that my clown really likes, but I also have a coral banded shrimp the has the habbit of walking over it and causing the anemone to retract under a rock. It's completely retracted at least once a day; is this healthy for the anemone, and if the shrimp is the cause...
