    Dead Star Polyp

ph - 8.2 nitrite - 0 nitrate - 0 ammonia -0.1 phosphates - 0 calcium - 400 KH - 179ppm All of these readings are after doing a 25% pwc. I will have to get some carbon tomorrow, since I recently ran out. After a good look at the star polyp tonight, I noticed that some of the edges where it is...

    Feedings

I had one of these but lost it when I had a heater malfunction. It was my favourite. It would eat whatever was floating around, but it also took great care of the sand. It was always taking moutfuls of it to sift through its gills, keeping it nice and clean, and eating whatever had settled on...

    Dead Star Polyp

Is there a way to find out if a star polyp is dead? it has not opened all day. Yesterday when it was out, it looked really ragged and wasn't at full extension. I am a bit concerned that my flower pot coral has waged warfare on my tank. My star polyp, and hammer coral are looking strange...

    flower pot coral reproducing

I think that my flower pot just spawned. After the light wnet out I noticed these "chunks" of egg looking things floating around in the water. They were purple in colour, and each egg thing was .75mm in diameter. I looked around and noticed the flower pot secreting this stuff from it's top...

    Branching hammer sweepers

No, they don't seem to be reaching for anything in particular. They just come out and flop around most of the day. I was curious, just because there are 6 heads on it and only one has sweepers that come out. The rest just look normal.

    coral eating crab?

I don't know how many of these I have come across since starting my SW tank some time ago. I would have to say at least a dozen from 65lbs. They all migrated into the sump. The only crabs that i keep in the DT are ones that I keep in the DT are emeralds.

    time for some change!!!!

Do you want to pile up the rock on both ends? I did that and it was a pretty cool affect. It is called "flanking columns". What I did with mine was to pile it up on both ends, then save a bunch of smaller pieces to cover the sand in between. It gives some of your territtorial fish more space...

    Branching hammer sweepers

I have had this hammer for a little while now. I noticed some time ago that there are sweeper tentacles coming out of only one of the heads. The rest look normal, but no sweeper extension. Is this a normal phenomenon or should I move it around?

New to AA and Saltwater! Looking for some advice.

Mine eats other foods to. I make my own food, but mysis shrimp, or brine shrimp will normaly be taken as part of their diet. They just scavenge the sand bed a lot.

    Moving

"If I get really into it" hahaha, that literaly made me LOL!! Once you start, there is no turning back. Just face the fact that you ARE getting a 50-70g tank. The bigger they are, the easier they are to look after. A 50-75 is a good starting point, unless you have the money to go bigger...

    Moving

Your best bet is to just wait until the move. You don't want to start a tank, start to stock it about 2 months before the move. Then, have to drain the water, remove the livestock, the rocks, move it all, and reset it all up. Save yoursefl and the fish some stress and hold on. This will give...

    Tang Troubles

maybe it has some sort of gill parasite. I am not sure if that would cause it to hide out. Does it scratch or anything like that?

    Dirty substrate problems

no they are not very similar. the watchman is much smaller, here is a link to the yelowheaded goby YouTube - Yellow headed sleeper goby It picks up mouthfuls of sand, and then sifts it out of its gills, eating whatever is in the sand. It can grow to about 5". the watchman is much smaller...

gonna need advice on my nano

don't even think about stocking yet. Just give it time to cycle. I have a 10gallon in my bedroom on my computer desk, and the only fish that I have in there is 1 firefish goby. I have only one hermit, 4 turbos, a tonne of cowrys that just multiplied. As for the cardinall, they usualy require...

    Relocating a Mushroom Leather

if you can't figure out a way to get it off of the rock, try to get everything else off. What is on there that you don't want?

    Dirty substrate problems

see if you can get your hands on a yellow headed sleeper goby. I have one of those, and it keeps the sanding looking like new.

    Restocking My 55 Gallon

You should never stock your tank with the intentions of someday getting a bigger tank when the fish outgrow it. What happens if the upgrade never comes, then you have a severely cramped tank.

help, Ii think my new anemonie is upside down

I have 2 large anemones in my tank. When I first got them, they wandered around for about 2 days. One ended up in the most perfect spot. I could not have found a better place for it myself. It opens fully to about 8"across and sits right in the middle of the tank. The other one sits in the...
