    Consistent Problem with BBA :(

Are we talking BGA or BBA?

    Consistent Problem with BBA :(

Unfortunately this is the most aggressive algae there is. All it takes is one spore which can come in with a plant or a bag of fish and the tank will soon be infested. I've tried almost everything. Chlorine dips, picking out by hand, rewashing the gravel, and nothing seems to keep it from...

    Need some help here

There is so much that can be going on here Aural. If these are new tanks you may have stocked them too quickly creating an Ammonia spike. When this happens the fish, due to stress, will succumb to a whole host of maladies. Do you have readings for ammonia and nitrites? Are you familiar with...

black gravel or natural coloured gravel???

They can both look terrific. Personally I prefer the contrast with black.

    Best live food?

In truth bs6749 is correct. Unless you're trying to prod picky eaters to eat, or have predatory fish that will only eat a moving target, the commercially prepared and frozen foods are more than adequate. Still some people feel the need to pamper their fish and feel like treating them with live...

    Best live food?

Live brine shrimp would make a nice occasional treat and are relatively inexpensive or easy to culture. The advantage of brine shrimp is that being salt water animals, you don't risk adding anything unwanted to the tank.

20G High: Cardinal Tetras and __________?

One of my favorites would be the good old Black Tetra. They attain a nice size for a 20G, and usually stay in sight.

    Discus

Yes. That will allow the discus to feed at their pace.

emaciated sluggish discus and stringy white poo

A single discus in a tank with other species is under extreme stress. Discus are shoaling species and need the company other discus to shoal with. This is especially true if the fish is a juvenile. Even a healthy discus will succumb to a variety of illnesses if kept too long at temps under 84...

    Albino Ancistrus breeding tank

Hi Ann. Here's a voice from the past. LOL. Congrats on the BN spawn. They are alot of fun and are easy to sell because EVERYONE wants them. They're the ideal pleco.

    Discus

I agree with you fishhead. Although some have had success keeping discus with angels I feel it adds undue stress to the discus for just the reason you mention. Angels are much more aggressive feeders than discus. Discus (especially juveniles), usually will be more timid and are apt to not eat...

Aquarium with sloped front???? Can it work?!

A aquarium with that type of slope would work. The biggest drawback I see would be the cost of getting it built to spec.

    Online Aquarium Show!!!

Hey Ben, I think this is a terrific idea and I would definitely watch it. IMO the real experts are those that spawn fish commercially. A show on that topic would be very interesting. A show featuring home aquarists would also be interesting. How to, and what's the cost should be included.

    convict fry

You should have no problem seperating the fry from their parents. Commercial breeders generally remove the parents once eggs are laid.

    Evaluate this statement

Great discussion topic NJGourami!!! I'll take the other side and say it could actually pose a potential risk. Nitrifying bacteria can be fragile. In the event of a sudden die off due a sudden pH swing or other event, the more bacteria present the worse the bacterial bloom. If course I'm...

I never thought i would keep an Oscar...

Yep, agree with Jchillin. I'm so glad you stopped the feeder goldfish. The potential of introducing a disease to Diablo isn't worth the risk of feeder fish. Keeping the tank clean is about the best you can do for him.

    Canister Filters

Well the point of doing a gravel vac is to remove the waste products from the environment and replace with fresh clean water. Any filter would become clogged/polluted if that much waste were run through it. No cannister filter could handle it.
