    aquacon.com???

I recently ordered a SmartLite retro kit from them. It was priced well, arrived quickly. My only complaint was their lack of an automated ship notification / confirmation. I had to e-mail them to find out when they would ship my light, and they didn't provide a tracking number.

    Problem with leathers

I'll second the carbon. After adding my leathers I noticed periods where my other corals were suffering some. I'm now running carbon and it seems to have helped quite a bit.

Can you post your water parameters and more information about the rest of your tank inhabitants?

    Iodine Question

I definitely recommend getting a test kit. I was surprised to find that my xenia's, star polyps, cleaner shrimp, and crabs were reducing iodine to undetectable levels despite regular water changes. I'm finding that I need to dose 1 ml every other day in my 20 gallon tank. I was nervous about...

    live rock suppliers

I too am a satisfied customer of liverocks.com. The amount of macro-algae, coralline, feather dusters, etc. was nothing short of amazing.

    My salinity is 1.029

Mine appeared to be perfectly calibrated when I received it. I checked it with RO, and it was spot on. Also, not all refractometers adjust for temperature, so that could be a concern as well. Mine has ATC on it.

    My salinity is 1.029

I had the same issue. My Deep 6 Hydrometer said 1.026, my refractometer said 1.032! I'm slowly bringing down my salinity as a result. Let's just hope that the refractometers are correct...

    cycling w/LR and LS

Definitely check your ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate levels. I cycled my tank using rock from www.liverocks.com. I never got an ammonia spike, but my nitrites did spike up for a couple of weeks and then trailed off to zero. I didn't add fish until my nitrites hit zero, and so far so good.

    Orchid Dottyback vs. Royal Gramma?

I also have a black / white hybrid clownfish and a bicolor blenny. They all seem to be getting along well. The crushed coral isn't necessary, I just liked the combination of the crushed coral mixed into the aragonite sandbed.

    Orchid Dottyback vs. Royal Gramma?

Fridmani's are great. I've got one in my 20 gallon micro-reef, and he is the star of the tank. Recently he's taken to picking up small pieces of crushed coral from the back of the tank and spitting them out in the front of the tank. He seems quite proud of his rock-moving abilities.

    Please Help.....Invert losses

It sounds like your tank could potentially be overstocked as well. I've seen several recommendations to keep Yellow tang's in at least a 55 gallon tank. How are your nitrite / nitrate levels?

    Please Help.....Invert losses

How stable is your temperature and salinity? I have a 20 gallon tank as well, and have noticed that it is sometimes difficult to keep the salinity stable due to evaporation.

    Please Help.....Invert losses

Can you post your water statistics? Size of tank? Other tank occupants? Any additional info would be helpful.

bought RO system on Ebay, need help with install

GrndHog - The flow from the waste line is expected. RO systems produce a lot of waste water for every gallon filtered. Mine does the same thing.

    Interesting Salt Mix Fact

Actually, I'm the one that posted the link in the other thread, and it is by Dr. Ronald L Shimek. Here is the link again: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-03/rs/feature/index.htm

    Brand of Aquarium Salt

I'm a newbie to reef aquariums, but I ran across this article comparing toxic levels of compounds in various salts. I ended up purchasing Marinemix Bioassay salt as a result of their findings. http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-03/rs/feature/index.htm

    environmental impact

For many years I contemplated setting up a tank, but was concerned about the environmental impact. Recently I've become interested in the hobby, and was surprised to find books and web sites that talk about these concerns. I'm now in the stage of planning my first reef-tank. I like the notion...
