    Had such grief lastnight

    had to get pump out of tank as it had stopped working and not tried getting it out yet. i have the tank on top of a stand/cupboard and all the wires going into the bottom of cupboard thru a hole in back. anyway, i couldn't get the plug back thru hole to get it out, as the cupboard is too close...

    whoops did i post this in wrong forum? thanks for the info, i'm wasn't too attached to the fish, i've had them for years, and they always help to cycle my new tanks. might get a couple more tho, as they are really active and great fun to watch.

    was looking at aquarium over weekend and noticed that a danio had swollen up and all the scales were sticking out, looked like a bull of white fuzz. looked through book and it looked as if it was "dropsy" so removed the fish and had to sacrifice it. put some treatment stuff in, but not sure...

    Help with water hardness

    well i've had convicts for the last year and recently changed the tank to tiger barbs, which i think prefer soft water. PH is about 7.6 IIRC how can i make the water softer?

    :( cost me a tenner for them....... am looking into this planted tank stuff, and want to have a planted tank, i think i may need to have a re-think of the tank in the future........ it will be ok for now tho, gotta get used to controlling the water conditions etc....

    here i go again..... my tank is reading (i'm not too sure what they mean) GH reads 21d and Carbonate hardness = 20d ^^^^^hope that makes sense to someone as it means bugger all to me.... i am using a eSHa Aqua Quick test kit, so may not be the most accurate of readings

    Oh no :( hopefully they will last a little bit of time, as the tiger barbs are very small at the moment also they will have a job finding them as the tank dwarfs the fish in there, and its fully planted. i haven't seen the shrimp since the second they went in lol

    How many tiger barbs in 20 uk gallon tank

    good idea. i have an UGF with powerhead on one uplift tube and airstone on the other tube. there's quite a strong current in the tank too.... main reason for getting em, is that the convicts are too messy and not good with an UGF. Not sure on what colour/type of substrate to get either?
