Mine is pretty good, I think you get conflicting advice wherever you go though and it will always be the same. Just one of those things unfortunately. A lot of the advice on here will always differ as people in America may often do things differently to those here in the UK.

I use a local shop in my town, 'Maidenhead Aquatics'. They have shops up & down the country and it just so happens that the largest one is in my town. I'm always quite impressed with the staff knowledge and variety / condition of fish. http://www.FishKeeper.co.uk is their website.

Pretty impressive, if you have the money, which I certainly don't at the moment. Basically, they're just trying to save you the bother of setting up a new aquarium, but thats half the fun if you ask me. :fadein:

I basically went with fresh as I started as a total beginner and knew that jumping straight into SW was a mistake, as it's generally easier and cheaper to learn the trade with F/W fish. I love my fish at the moment, but will be setting up a SW / Reef tank at some point. I'm going to keep...

53 is a big number for fry in one sitting ! Is the mother still alive ?!

I had about 12 - 15 in my batch, 4 of which are now in my main tank, with incredible colours on their fins. I produced more females than males and all of the batch were healthy, bar one who has an unusual bodily defect.

Few questions for you first : How hard or soft is the water in your area ? Are you using a water conditoner ? pH of your tank water ? All of these could be part of the reason.

I'd say so, when mine gave birth , it let off about 10 baby fry, 3 or 4 of those have grown really colourful. Remember to transfer the mum once it has given birth, or it could well munch them all.

Easy mate, if it makes you that unhappy, perhaps you should just pass them on to someone who isn't so easily offended by a fish taking a dump. Coldwater fish are generally more messier when it comes to waste excretion than tropical freshwater, it's nothing to worry about.
