    Fancy Goldfish Babies!

Pretty much lol! Just clear little "blobs" with black eyes for right now- there are tons of them too!!! I can't wait for them to get bigger! :) They hatched on May 7th. :)

Bubble eye and celestial eye goldfish

I have several fancy goldfish (2 ryukin, 1 oranda, 1 red/white telescope, 1 fantail) and about 100 fry in a small fry tank right now haha! (There's also a high-fin spotted pleco that lives in the tank with the adult goldies). (In the past, I have had celestial/bubble eyes as well). One of the...

    Fancy Goldfish Babies!

I tried to get a few pictures a little while ago. They didn't turn out so well because the fry are still tiny tiny! :)

    Fancy Goldfish Babies!

Thanks you guys. Just a little update- the fry are growing strong! They are still eating the "first bites" and I'm still doing tiny water changes on them regurally. I also got a small filter for the tank to help keep their water cleaner (water changes are difficult with such tiny fry!) I am...

    Fancy Goldfish Babies!

About a week ago, I noticed that my fancy goldfish tank was covered in eggs! I've had these fish for a while now and they had never laid eggs before, so I thought maybe I had all males or all females. I was incorrect!;) The majority of the eggs were laid on one of my large Amazon Sword plants...

How do you care for your fish on the way home from the store..

That's what I do as well if I don't have a passenger in the car with me to hold them. :)

    "Fluffy" the Green Spotted Puffer!

Very appropriate! I love the little guy! (and you! :D)

    "Fluffy" the Green Spotted Puffer!

Thankyou!! I love the little guy!! :) He's quite the interior decorator too! He's already pulled up half of the plants in his tank and rearranged them to his liking lol!:biglol: His tail is still a little curled, but not as much as it was yesterday. I think the stress of moving from the LFS...

German Blue Ram - by JChillin

I couldn't resist any longer and recently got 3 German Blue Rams from one of the local fish stores. (In the past when I had asked around about them, it had been at Petco...they told me that their life expectancy was very low and that they were very fragile. When I talked to the lady at the LFS...

    "Fluffy" the Green Spotted Puffer!

Meet my new addition, "Fluffy"! Isn't he a cutie?? :D Jack ordered him for me before Valentines Day and I finally got to bring him home yesterdy! (One of our local fish store that we frequent has a policy of quarantining all new fish for about a week before selling them to make sure they're...

    Earthquake Protection

I'm glad someone else posted! I have actually been wondering about that for a while now as well (along with what I would do about my fishtanks to try and make them as "earthquake proof" as possible). I live in Memphis, which is pretty much right on the New Madrid fault. Around here people are...

    Rams and Shrimp???

To be honest, I wouldn't put 1 blue ram in a 6 gallon, let alone a pair into a 6 gallon tank. It's just too small. Even though they don't get huge, they still need a fair amount of space to swim around in. They also appreciate a well planted tank with lots of caves/etc to hide in! It's a great...

    Compatability Question!! Need help!

After Kimmy checked all of her water levels, she wound up getting a few more fish after consulting some other LFS owners near us. 1 Green Terror, 1 firemouth cichlid, 1 blood parrot, and her original convict cichlid. Everyone's getting along very well!

    Compatability Question!! Need help!

The original tank is a 29 gallon. The 2 convicts were an unexpected surprise so she had no choice but to put them in there for a while. After we move the female into the bigger new tank, the male will remain in the 29 since he is too aggressive to be put with anything else. Any ideas what we...

    angelfish

I prefer to keep my angel fish (veiltails) in groups. They tend to do better that way. A group of 3 or 6 tends to work well, that way one does not get aggressive towards the others. (Mine are in my 80 gallon community tank and are get along quite well with my other fish). Angelfish like to have...

    Compatability Question!! Need help!

Thankyou for your help; we'll definitely nix that idea! I believe the new tank is a 55 gallon;I'll double check though. It is densly planted with live plants and has a huge "bridge" for hiding spots. She is also floating plants in there as well for even more hiding places. (So, lots of good...

    Compatability Question!! Need help!

Hey everyone, I'm posting on behalf of my sister Kimmy at the moment. She has an established Convict Cichlid tank (they recently bred and the babies are doing wonderful and all have homes once they're old enough). Tonight her husband bought her a new fish tank. The reason he got the new tank for...

    Favorite Freshwater Community Tank Size

I voted for the 120gal long. The bigger the tank, the better imo! Most fish (aside from angel fish) prefer longer swim space vs. height...so I think the 120 long would be a bit more fish friendly, and it gives you the option to stock it with a variety of fish and still have lots of space. :)

    Convicts with Jack dempseys?

I think you would be asking for trouble in a 55g if you mixed those two. Maybe in a 100+ gallon with tons of room and plants...but honestly I don't know about a 55gallon. Keep in mind, the fish you're looking at now will get larger, so having 2 potentially aggressive species in one tank in my...

    Green Spotted Puffer Fish help???

Such great information! Thankyou again everyone for your help! :) I have another question today! I was recently told by my LFS that I could include little pieces of plain baked chicken in my GSP's diet. Since I made some in my crock pot today I decided to give it a try and see what Gizmo would...

    Fish Eating Algae Wafer? Dangerous?

My goldies LOVE algae wafers! :) Everytime I put one in the tank for my pleco, they just HAVE to have some too lol. (they also get frozen blood worms, frozen brine shrimp, flakes, and pellets too...I try to mix up their diet as they need different things than my pleco does). A little algae wafer...
