    Carey's LAST Build- 125g Reef

But you can't guarantee a "heavy metal remover" will get it out of the silicone. She'll have more deaths on her hands that way: all of her inverts. That's what hospital tanks are for.

    My 36g Bow Front

I don't recall anyone here citing any websites. We're not new to the game either. We've either been in your shoes, or seen other PEOPLE (not websites) who have been there, and their fish die of stress, or stress-related illness. You don't need to be rude to people who are just looking out for...

    High nitrite: Please help.

I would really recommend larger, more frequent water changes. You can do as many water changes as you want(need) to get your levels below 0.25ppm. That means you can do back to back large PWC's. Also you should really consider rehoming the RTBS (assuming we're talking about the red-tail black...

Yeah, I agree to check with them. I really do hope it's legitimate.

    Carey's Pico Build!

Not necessarily. There's a good possibility you can, I just really can't tell you since we're unsure who really made it. If it's a decent brand, then yes. If it's some cheap chinese e-bay brand, probably not. The only way to tell would be through a par meter ($$$) or testing a frag you already...

    Carey's Pico Build!

Although the bulb looks like Evil's, it doesn't seem right. The printed voltage isn't right, nor the wattage. I could be wrong, but alongside the dimness I'm not sure it's Evil's par38. JMO. Either way, the coloring is good. Makes me wish I had got one. Nice frags too.

    New tank

I'm not sure I understand, but transferring water won't help your cycle. Water isn't cycled, the media/substrate/rock is.

Which place is this? We might have to check it out sometime when I go back home.

    Carey's Pico Build!

Well I'm assuming the ADA is a 60-(x) model, because that guy is out of his mind if he'd sell a large ADA tank for $100 dollars. If the ADA and Mr Aqua are around the same size then these are the 60- models. ADA Cube Garden Rimless Aquarium's // Standard Sizes So it's a good deal regardless.

    Carey's Pico Build!

Assuming blue is ecoxotic and 20k is nanotuners, I'd skip the blue and get the 20k. It's nice, it's not overwhelming. As for my tank, I do love it. I will admit it's lesser quality than ADA. Glass is higher iron, silicone isn't as clean, but it's nothing I notice really ever. I posted pics of...

    Carey's Pico Build!

I personally don't think 20k is too blue. It's a popular pick. True blue is typically not used singularly, though. IMO 20k and true blue together would be a little too blue, so I'm not sure what you could do with the true blue bulb. Do you know what brand it is? That could help. One brands "20k"...

    Carey's Pico Build!

Par38 wouldn't be too much, I only suggest a Par30 instead because it's smaller, cheaper, weaker: overall better suited for a pico. If you want a par38, go right ahead. You just might have to mount it higher so you don't torch anything. If you don't want to use it on the pico, Par38's are a...

    Carey's LAST Build- 125g Reef

You're making it off-topic as well by saying that? I didn't miss the point. I got it. It's just not a good analogy for the situation. Thanks for undermining my intelligence though. Anyway, good luck Carey. I really do hope he makes it out okay.

    Carey's LAST Build- 125g Reef

I'm pretty sure electricity/candles are a little different than living beings. This is part of being a responsible reef-keeper. She NEEDS to be able to get into her tank. That's a fact you really can't argue with. Now let's stop flaming about it and maybe come up with another idea?

    Wanted: 48'' light fixture

It's actually a 24V, 60 WATT transformer. True lumen pro isn't any better than ecoxotic, look at their PAR ratings. They're both fine choices. It's up to the OP (if he/she even wanted LEDs).

Finally starting my salt water aquarium. . .

Many of them are hard to care for, incompatible, or not reef safe. Yes, he can do some of them, but not all. That was the point of the article. It states you can do some, but it also educates you of some that won't work.

    Otis the Yellow Belly Slider

You do not have 1 year or so. They grow very fast. Like others said, you'll need a large tank or a pond with places to get out under a proper basking lamp. Rather than releasing him into the wild (which you really don't want to do, it's not just about predators, it's about the natural...

    T5HO Fixture vs Retrofit kit

For one thing, they're 2 different brands, so the prices will differ. Also, the Tek kit doesn't come with bulbs. Mainly, retrofit kits don't come with housing. Meaning the ATI is a full fixture, plug and play. The Tek kit is parts, DIY. There's nothing wrong with the Tek fixture. Generally ATI...

    Help with tap water!

If you're adding water directly to the tank without using a de-chlorinator first, you dose for the full volume of the tank. If you dose prior to adding water to the tank, you only need to dose the volume of the water you're adding. As said, it works instantly.

    Sick goldy.. ammonia burns??

No, not necessarily. But clean, good water does wonders for sick fish. Hopefully someone with more experience with these particular symptoms can help. I personally can only give general suggestions in this area.

    Sick goldy.. ammonia burns??

How long has your tank been set up? When did the fish begin showing symptoms? Was anything added or changed around this time? You should be treating with anti-fungals for fungus, not antibiotics. You need to be doing more frequent water changes, not only because your levels indicate you should...

    Carey's Pico Build!

Yep. The inner side is a velcro-like scrubby thing, which works well. It works the same way the mag-float works, just prettier and much smaller. That's exactly why I got it, I didn't want to deal with the mag-float I had. (But it doesn't float, if that matters)

    Carey's Pico Build!

You could take the mag float out of the equation, yet still be able to handle your algae.. Nano Aquarium Algae Scraper: Two Little Fishies NanoMag Just a suggestion. ;)
