    Filtration For a 10 Gallon

to reduce surface turbulance to a minumum, i would recommend an internal filter like the duetto dj-50 or the fluval 1 plus.

    emperor vs penguin

well a claimed 280 gph hack off say 10% for media usage so 250 if the flow control cuts it in half 125 if you go with 10x tank capacity 12.5 gal though i would probably not use it on a tank that small more likely 20 gal at the smallest or 29 gal optimal 50 gal at most (also what the filter is...

If you have VHO or PC and want to see your Corals go crazy:)

you could also cut 2 pieces and have a front/back or left/right so that you could remove one piece to feed. i considered 2 panels: a 3/4 back and 1/4 front, so i could remove the front to feed, water change, etc. if i remember ill snap a pic of one of my tanks that uses eggcrate. i have the...

    Sump suggestion

since logal was first here he gets the free advertising http://www.captiveraisedcorals.com/SL-10%20wet-dry.htm that would work for you and is not $300 if youre just looking for a sump to: - increase water volume - hide your heater and other equipment - make water changes/top offs less intrusive...

Fish Choices for my 90gal planted tank....

if i had a 90g i would most likely expand one of my 55g biotopes. not sure which one though. i like both the south american and asian tanks, but would most likely go with the south american. there are a wide variety of cories, tetras, plecos, and cichlids (etc) that i wouldnt mind adding to my tank.

Will a single XP3 canister filter be enough???

then i would still recommend the pair of xp2s you can find them for about $70 + s/h also is your eco dark grey or black? currently my 10g has natural pea gravel, uncoated, with a plant backgound, that you cant really see. hopefully in the next few weeks, ill be getting a new AGA 10g black seal...

Will a single XP3 canister filter be enough???

hob is not the prefered filtration method for planted tanks however if cost is an issue it is a viable solution if you keep the water level in your tank high enough, surface agitation will be kept to a minimum i would also imagine on a 90g tank you will be injecting additional co2

Will a single XP3 canister filter be enough???

turnover is up to you, but it seems most people believe 6-10x tank volume is sufficient. with that in mind the unrestircted flow of rena filstars is as follows xp1 - 250gph xp2 - 300gph xp3 - 350gph expect lower actual output with media and shoot for 540-900gph i personally believe a pair of...

    Water Change Swimming Pool?!?!?

if there was anything toxic to the tank, would it not also be toxic to the child? the polyester fiber fill in stuffed animals and pillows some people use as filter floss. and im sure the toy is washable as well, so being wet shouldnt pose a problem. the water batch is fine.

    New 29g hope-to-be Reef Tank

i previously had a 20l and my younger brother has a 29. i have to say 30" tanks are difficult to light properly, in so much as most bulbs/fixtures are 24" or 36". i will never own one again lol. your ge aquarays are NO 9325k bulbs and good until you decide to go reef. since i didnt see it...

    DIY sump

check valves for the most part are reliable, however i would still drill an anti-siphon hole in your return line. a ball or gate valve will allow you to cut back the flow of the return pump. start closed and slowly open in up until the overflow cant handle it then throttle it back a bit.

    Rena Filstar Xp1 or Xp2

if you plan on upgrading to a 55g soon, you should go ahead and get an xp3. not that much more than an xp2 and still suitable after the upgrade.
