i just purchased a Jebao DC3000 pump to use on a DIY skimmer, only thing is i have to mod the impeller and i can't for the life of me get the impeller off the rotor, has anyone figured this out? i don't want to pull to hard and risk breaking it, but i'm trying to pull it off and flip it around...

no its not remember there are pre filters pulling out chlorine and silts from the water, the RO membrane if cleanign whats left even finer, so youre already getting cleaner water to the RO membrane you're just shooting out the waste of the cleaner stuff. so in all honestly you're probably...

jeeze 114 PSI thats huge pressure, does your RO filter work properly and if so i'm guessing you're making double the output lol so rather then 100gpd its more like 200

thats friggen gross yeah we don't have an issue with that although if you leave it in a bowl or bottle and it evaporates you can ee a creamy bit of resedue, not alot but still there. i only drink RO or bottled water, i have a 5 stage in my kitchen and a 6 stage DI for my reef. if i had a...

i've never checked mine but ours is pretty bad also, my town is fed of of wells and we get the nice red iron rings around our toilets. when i change my RO/DI filters my pre filters are rust coloured. by the end of the year we will have city water, but still for a town full of multi million...

    tank bracing

i would hang it off the back but cutting slots in the back for a strainer would probably end up weakening iti'll probably end up doing it as an internal box, i'd just rather not see it and give it more of a cleaner look

    tank bracing

thats what i was planning on doing and i did plan on one piece yeah it would look cleaner then 4 different pieces and probably a bit stronger too. i've got another question more on how would i do an external overflow with it euro braced back

a skimmer shouldn't constntly pull skimmate, if it is the skimmer is constantly tryign to keep up with the organics compounds, and probably never will. thats why reefdynamics has different ratings for their skimmers, their modle 180s are liek the sizes of other manufactures models rated for 400...

mainly what vodka dosing is good for pulls makes skimmateproduction much better. are you still running the Octopus and the bubble magus or have you upgraded? i don't think those two are large enough for your system the way it stands now so i'm sure they are constantly pulling out skimmate

he uses a 4" but a DSB is recommended to be 4-6" deep 2" of anareobic bacteria 2 inches of heavily oxygenated sand bed 4" is plenty 3" is minimal

agreed, you can't put 100 fish in a 100 gallon tank and thing that a DSB will purify it. lol i just did another post and explained you can't over do things because nature won't be able to keep up, but normal stocking with regular feedings a good skimmer a DSB and a well stocked refugium and...

disturbing it in its young stages, but once it matures up theres nothign really to worry about. i forgot who but one of the forum mods had a powerhead fall off and blew away a section of his 6" DSB right down to the glass and not ill effects, the life will die but the life will breack down any...

mostlikely will but thats doign something a DSB already does :P free is best in an expensive hobby like ours. i'm a big believer in DSBs simply because they are not only a money saver but a time saver as well. they do all the nitrate exporting essencially making waterchages obselete, unless to...

the way i see it with SPS is they feed on mostly phytoplankton, a well established DSB with proper granulars of sand is able to house all sorts of life that come out at night and feed SPS corals, while its nice to feed them yourself and beef them up a bit with a fully established system i don't...
