    Will my Purple stripe Psuedo

Thanks for the bottle trap info. Looks like it may work. So far everyone is still a live. I was thinking that if just kept the psuedo well fed he won't care about the cleaners... don't know if I should risk it or pull him :(

    Will my Purple stripe Psuedo

eat my Shunker cleaner shrimp. Bought a Purple stripe Puesdo yesterday and he seems to too interested in my skunk cleaner shrimp. Quick research this morning says they eat ornamental shrimp ( I know, I know -- thought I researched it first, but that's a different story) This morning, Pet...

I had the same thing with mine. Hide for a week, then came out alot, but would disappear for days at a time. Down side was that when he finally did go I didn't know it for weeks -- assumed he was hiding (I still secectly expect him to pop out, but it's been a few months... :( )

    STocking advice

Four fish was my initial idea, but the chromis at my lfs were so small i thought i could manage it. realize now that they get bigger than I thought. Not huge, but too big for a school in my tank. What do you all think of getting one. Is it a bad idea to have him alone?? Also, any other...

    STocking advice

I have a 30 gallon that's been up and running for about a year and half. I presently have 2 false percs and a red striped goby along with assorted snails & 2 shunk cleaner shrimp. Our last addition will be a lemonpeel. We initially wanted to add one other fish, before the lemonpeel, but...

    Need some Chromis info

I've heard odd numbers are best. true? So would getting 2 be a bad idea?

    Need some Chromis info

Do the blue chromis need to school for long happiness/health. I was thinking of getting one for 30 g, which already has two true prec, red striped blenny and am planning on completing with a lemonpeel. Thought three blue chromis might overstock. Also, do you need to get them all at once, or...

thanks. I've got my SW mixed already. Plan a change in a few days. Red slime seems to be check, but we'll see.

    Nitrite spike??

Ultralife. Thought about that...Ammonia was fine so I'm hoping no affect on bio filter.

    Nitrite spike??

Had the oddest thing happen when testing water just now; My nitrites seemed to have spiked to .2, first time I've had a reading on my nitrite test since I cycled the tank about 2 years ago. Other facts: Amm 0 Nitrate 10 Nitrite .2 ph 7.8 Temp 82 SG 1.024 Phos .2 I'm treating the tank with red...

Help! Is my Feather Duster still alive?

bump. So the crown is gone, but the tube remains. It's been about 3 days. How do I know if he is still alive??

    This is rediculous

Give it time. This hobby is more about patience than relaxation. When I first set up my tank and had nothing but LR in there for a month, I thought "what a drag. I want fish...This is taking too long!" then I started see all the tiny life that was beginning to bloom and swim around my LR...

Help! Is my Feather Duster still alive?

I know it sounds silly, but how do you know if a Feather duster is dead? I got one for the first time a few days ago. 2 days later, my wife said the crown fell off - I was out of town. I got back today and I can see the tube, but can't see if anything is in there. there is a white, wilted...

    Red slime algae

Thanks guys. I may try a phosphate sponge. I don't think RO/Di is in my immediate future. I also adjusted the ph and may get another, since the worst outbreak is in one corner which was not getting the most flow.

    Red slime algae

I actually moved the ph to provide better flow to those areas.

    Red slime algae

So, you are saying Po4 is not reading because it's gone, consumed by the algae, but there was enough to sustain the algae growth in the first place??? Pretty sure it's not a molt. been there before and this looks like dead shrimp. I also lost my two peppermint shrimp a few months ago.... any...

    Red slime algae

Help! I've got red slime algae. I've read the other posts on this board and thought for sure I had a phosate problem. Went out got my little kit and I'm reading less than .2 (the lowest that my test kit goes). So I assume that's not the issue. I do not use ro/di for water changes / top off...

    Test kit preference

I've been using fastest since I started my tank 14 months ago. It more or less came with the tank from my lfs and so far I've been happy with it. That's my answer to the above Question; MY Question to all of you using Salifert and Seachem is: Am I missing something? My tests seem quick and...

    Help! Newbie with problems!

Agree with the above. To answer your other question, the tank is cycling right now and you don't need to do anything for it complete the cycle. Water changes will help to keep your present life stock alive, but diluting the ammonia and nitrates. If the Tang dies, remove him immediately and...

    Finding Nemo

Just to add my 2 cents, here: You are all talking to the wrong people here. Anyone that comes on this forum to get a Nemo is doing the right thing and may actually end up with a decent sw set up! I just saw the movie (rented) last night. My wife stopped me after the second "Now wait a...

    water test ph.

Found this post very interesting since I'm having a similar problem with my tank. didn't know the "poor gas exchange" could cause a drop in ph. I have a fully covered tank that gets good surface aggitation. Don't know my alk level-I'm ashamed to say that my kit doesn't include alk test and...

    brackish clean up crew

Thanks that last bit helps. The SG is about 1.010, perhaps a little less. They seem to be thriving so I assume its okay. I used marine salt, since i also run a marine tank.

    brackish clean up crew

I'm new to brackish, so I don't know all the fish and subtitlies involved. We wanted something between our marine and fresh water tank, we set up a brackish environment and filled it with what our lfs called "small mixed africans" in their brackish section. We got three different types: blue...

My Ph is dropping and I don't know why?

Thanks! Reefrunner69, your explanation was great. I didn't realize that pH could be affected in that way, nor did I understand the role of water changes for pH. Even when you think you've caught on to hobby, there's plenty to learn. Which is why I love this forum. Thanks guys. Another...
