What's eating my cardinals at night?

I had six, but recently lost one (he was sick since new) so now I have 5, I was looking to increase their numbers, but i'm holding out at the moment to see just how nippy they can be... (will decide future choices etc etc). I hope you can work out whom the culprit is, but its true, don't rule...

What's eating my cardinals at night?

I just put in a nice school of neons, and I found that my skirted tetra would also nip and kill the neons, learnt that the hard way (thanks LFS, not!) and in my tank I only have cory's and two plecco, so unless they turned viscous, it had to be the skirted tetra, which are known to be nippy...

    Additional filter advice

That was along my line of thinking. May i ask, do you have all the inlets at one end, and the outflows at the other? Or are they split up so that an inlet and an outflow live at each end of the tank? Sent from my iPad using Aquarium

    Additional filter advice

Hi all, Need some advice, i have a 100 gall 4ft "tall" tank that currently has a fluval 405 attached, but I would like to supplement this filter with another, due to the hood design I cannot fit a HOB, so would be looking for another canister filter. I have nodded the current 405 output to a...

Picture Request Tank with Black Background

I'll throw in an opinion, I have the white gravel at the front leading to a speckled river pebble in the background, was part of a bigger plan to aquascape more professionally, but that never happened, lol. I find the white background really washes out the finer details of community fish unless...

Picture Request Tank with Black Background

Not wanting to go off on a tangent, but is sand hard to maintain? Or is it just because it is white sand? Sent from my iPad using Aquarium

    New tank

I have a Hagen fluval 405 and personally, I think it is a tad undersized for a 100gal tank, but that's just me, it does work, and works well, but I would have liked a bigger filter (followed LFS advice). Might have to get a larger one come Xmas ;-) Sent from my iPad using Aquarium

Picture Request Tank with Black Background

Nah, it's an aquarium background that is black on one side and dark blue on the other (reversible) it is the same stuff that the printed aquarium backgrounds are made of, you just have to sticky tape it to the back of the aquarium, nothing fancy.. Sent from my iPad using Aquarium

    Plant identification help

Hi all, Can some please be kind enough to ID this plant for me? I have forgotten the name of it, so i cannot research if it is truly an aquatic plant, the LFS said it is, but, well, you know them, and that's why we're here :-) The pot is a crypt, that's all I know, to the right are the pink...

    Is my tank ok?

Mine is an "easy clean". It's good as far as the clip on the bucket goes, I can also compress the clamp so that the flow will stop if i need it too, however as I have a four foot 'tall' tank, I have the really long vac, and I find the gravel guard restricts flow a bit too much and is not needed...

    Advice needed on new tank

Well it has been a week and half and my water is still a little on the cloudy side when looking through the 4ft tank long end to long end, and I have been performing PWC every other day. I have 0.0 on all my readings currently, I only once saw a rise in ammonia and nitrates, but the nitrites...

What causes slime in a tank?

Cant advise on the brown algae, but to keep phosphates down (algae food) you can perform water changes if you have measured the tap water and not it to contain minimal phosphates. I have a lot of plants, but floating or dead/decaying plant matter will increase your phosphates, so pick the...

What causes slime in a tank?

I have this over the heater, air stone tubing, glass and driftwoods. I'm trying to lower my phosphates, reduce feeding a bit and lower lighted time to the aquarium... Apart from that, i have no idea.. Surely someone on here has dealt with it or knows what it is tho?? ;-( Sent from my iPad...

What causes slime in a tank?

Does it look like the white "halo slime" found on this rock? (no credit for the pic, I got it off the net as I am unable to take a photo at present). If this is what you are experiencing, i have it too.. Seems like a lot of new tanks suffer this, and I can find no definitive answer, however my...

    Advice needed on new tank

Ok, I can't take a decent photo of the white slime/algae/fungus that I am experiencing, so i nabbed this photo from the web that is the same. A lot of Internet searching reveals it is quite common, but does anyone have a definitive treatment? This grows on driftwood, silicon air tubing for the...
