    ammonia spike

I have had my tank for over a year, and all of a sudden my soft corals polyps arent coming out. I tested my water, and I have had a huge ammonia spike. There isn't anything dead in my tank that I can see, however I have a flowerpot coral and a candy cane that arent the healthiest, but they arent...

    stoopid no good crabs

the fuzzy crab sounds like a hitchiker crab... does it look like the crab in the pic above? if so, its bad news. I got mine out by picking out the rock that I knew the crab was in and moving it to the QT. It ticked the crab off so bad that he was out of the rock before I even made it to the QT...

    Questions on some corals!!

toadstool maybe.. definitely not the hammer coral or the plate coral. Mushrooms are probably your best bet, some polyps maybe.. but the hard corals IMO need more light.

    Need help with new fish!

I also have a percula clown and 3 yellow tail damsels. Try moving some of your rocks and/or decorations around. That seemed to work for mine. The damsel is territorial and if you change the territory, they sometimes arent as aggressive. Hope this helps.

    sick frog spawn?

We purchased a frogspawn about 6-8 weeks ago, and thought it wasn't getting enough light. we moved it about a week ago, now one of the branches (it has 4 total) won't hardly come out of the skeleton. What could be the cause of this and will it effect the other branches. the color of the affected...

    peppermint shrimp has eggs

I just noticed that my peppermint shrimp has eggs under its belly. Should I remove it and put it in the QT or should I leave it in my DT? I have a brittle star and a skunk cleaner that I would hate to have eat the eggs. Any suggestions would be great! Denise

What do you name your fish?

All great names, I realy like Mr Pink :D The 2 percs are Cosmo And Wanda from The Fairly Odd Parents. LMB is Benny the Blenny, just cause. Yellow Tang is Lucy. She just looks like a Lucy, could be a Twin Peaks flashback. Cleaner Shrimp is Bubba, our 6 year old named him. The Peppermint Shrimps...

    Bubble Tip Anemone Question

also, FYI, my once very docile clowns now are somewhat protective and aggressive around my new anemone. They have bitten us a few times... they will also poach food from others to feed the anemone. We are letting them feed the anemone, because that is when we got bit... trying to feed it.

    Bubble Tip Anemone Question

for what its worth, I just bought a beautiful bubble tip 3 days ago. From what I read, as long as the mouth is nice and tight and the anemone retracts, it should be healthy. once they are comfortable in their location, they relax and their tentacles look farther apart. It just depends on the...

Anyone keep their Mantis shrimps by choice?

I traded the 2 that surived the trip from LR.com to my lfs. The smaller one became lunch for the bigger. Once I feel a little more comfortable with my system my lfs guy will get me some xenia. I was told there is a big demand for the peacock mantis right now Steve

    Clown got something

Steve-s thanks for the reply. I almost agree with you, but the on again off again spots are daily, not the 3-4 days I have been reading. Plus they disappear rapidly. This morning when I got home Cosmo had 4 pinpoint spots on him, within 20 minutes of me starting work around his tank his spots...

    Clown got something

Well I spent most of the night scouring aa and others for any info I could find on ick and it's tx. This is the conclusion I have come up with: Ick is way overdiagnosed and there is alot of differing opinions on it's lifecycle and the proper tx. It seems to me that every white mark on a fish is...

    Clown got something

Update: I got home this morning to find Cosmo on the bottom of the qt very lethargic, with 2 small white spots on his body. These spots are not raised just spots and about the size of a grain of salt. We have not noticed any scratching of rubbing behavior. Respiration appears to be normal, good...

    Clown got something

We have a fairly new tank, 6 weeks old, and just added 2 clowns and 1 cardinal to the display 1 week ago. Everything is going good chemistry wise. Yesterday we found 2 small white spots on 1 of the clowns and he had clamped fins. We moved him to the qt. Later in the day no spots very active and...
