    Identify these cichlids

All I did was take some flat rocks, slate chunks, and river rocks. I built caves in the sense that I made sure there were line of sight blocks, and places to sneak in and out of. Also have java ferns and fire moss through the tank. However, the saga continues. I now have a electric blue...

    Identify these cichlids

The guppies are gone, they lasted two days. I knew that would happen. I was suprise that the big ones got taken so fast though. My water is about wear cichlids like it from the tap which is handy. The Cory's and plecos have been in it for years, should be fine. Why do you add salt? Only...

    Identify these cichlids

Thank you for the response. One of those situations where dad bought kid aquarium and both lost interest. He had ten total, manage to find homes for all but two. I took them reluctantly but so far they seem to be chill. In with some cordoras, brittlenose, and a few cherry barbs. And guppies...

I have acquired two cichlids from a friend. I am curious as to the breed. I believe a type of peacock.? I am curious so I can make sure I keep the tank specs in range for them. They are in a community 90gal for now. Plants and caves. Made three. Any info is appreciated.

    Using Rocks From Outside?

I have rocks from the back yard. I pressure washed them (no soap or anything) and then did a scrub, pressure washed again, put in tank. I did nothing else. The rocks I put in wouldn't fit in my stove or in any of my pots. 1.5yrs later still no issue.

    Gravel Vac without water change?

I can't think of an advantage to using the filter? Wouldn't it just clog your media up? https://www.amazon.ca/Eheim-Automatic-Gravel-Cleaner-Extractor/dp/B003C5U2SU I had this for a few years. It just did the gravel. When I first started out I would do this in between my water...

    How to breed snails?

MTS, Malaysian trumpet snail, breed like crazy. My LFS gives them away usually as the breed so heavy. Only thing is they don't get very big. 1" long shell, but the snail itself is pretty small. But, they will multiply by 20x in a month.

    Tubing

Generally it is the ID. Not very often is it referenced as the OD. Now, I am sure there are times when it is.

What Did You do With Your Tank Today?

Periodic WC I did a 30% WC. Nitrates where at 30ish. Everything else zero. Cleaned the sump filter foam. That’s about it. Pretty low maintenance. Then, I watched my ground crew for awhile. Love this Pleco.

Glass that lets light go through

I respectfully disagree. I have never had a tank that the top plastic piece is so true and flat the it creates an airtight seal when laying a piece of Lexan on it. Also there is usually some kind of finger hole to allow you to remove the lid. If you want an indestructible cheap lid, Lexan...

Glass that lets light go through

I have acrylic tops on all my tanks (lexan, plexiglass all the same) and I have no issue with the light getting thru. I have to keep it clean, once every two weeks or so I pull them off a scrub them. Only thing to watch for is to be sure to use a soft cloth as they do scratch fairly easy...

    Cory & Angel Tank question

Would be nice to throw some Drift wood in as most plecos enjoy nibbling on wood. Helps with the internals.

    Fish from my tank

Long time past your post but I took these with my phone. I think I took about 50 pics to get these two good ones. Nothing special. Only thing I do is turn off all the lights around the tank to reduce glare/reflection. Its a iPhone 6 if that's makes a diffenece. Cheers

Back in the hobby need advice.

playsand I used playsand in my tank. Love it. Lots of color variation, and cheap. Only thing I would do if I did it again would be to take the time to really really really rinse it. I didn't do a great job and had a very cloudy tank for about a week. Granted I was doing a fishless cycle...

    Ram, is he sick?

Think he is done I have takin the Ram out of my main tank and put him/her into a 5gal bowl. I am going to see if he/she improves but I don’t think he/she will make it. Can’t keep upright. Keeps flipping over and points straight down. I have notice a little more aggression between the rams as...

    Ram, is he sick?

So my Ram is hanging around the bottom of the tank. Seems he has no energy. He is swimming around a little bit always ends up on the bottom. Thoughts? Ammo 0 Nitrites 0 Nitrates 20+ppm Temp is 79.2 Don’t know PH/KH as I don’t test them. I could if this is a potential issue. Tank is year old...

    Painting my tank

I had bought Black Krylon Fusion for painting the overflow/return on my tank as it is safe once dried for fish. However, I didn't end up using it for that. I ended up using it for the back of my tank. Worked great. I did end up using the whole can to get it to not allow light thru. Now...
