Does he have any where to hide? A fish won't get better if he is stressed. The first thing to curing a fish is fixing the reason why he is stressed.

More then likely ammonia poisoning but hard to tell without a test kit. Does Petco use strips to test customer water parameters? If so i wouldn't trust them if they say it's all good. You could could have rinsed the filter media out in a bucket of tank water until you had the dust out that way...

It's to bad you pictures didn't work. You said you were using an expert test kit. What brand is it and is it liquid?

What else are you planning on putting in the tank? The best way to tell if your stocked is to check the nitrate levels after a week and if it's under 20ppm your good, once it hits 20ppm in one week stop adding fish.

I love ehiem. I have two jägers and my 2213. But I do like the fluval heaters and I haven't had one of them fail where I had an ehiem but I use my ehiem a lot more then fluval heaters. Honestly I would say it depends on gph, rating and price both are good companies imo
