    Help with a dinosaur bichir!

Add him to the tank. I have never heard of a 24 hour rule, but try adapt him to the temp and water conditions of the long term tank. Should be fine. If the 1 gallon isn't sealed or covered, he could jump and then dry out:( just a heads up.

    Striped peacock eal

Hi just wondering I have mts in my tank. They are overcharging of course so I was wondering will my eel eat these? They are all mostly still small less than .04 centimeters? Thanks:)

New Rasboras sideways on bottom of tank

I'm not saying it will die, but it will most likely not live. Sorry:(

New Rasboras sideways on bottom of tank

This has happened to me before. If you have recently done a water change and didnt use enough dechloronizer with the new water. Might also just be a Eco thing. You added 11 organisms in a short time, that van kind of throw your tank out of whack for a while. Just my thoughts.

    Top Fin Plant Bulbs

Yeah basically. I grow anubias, java fern, and archaisis(sp) pretty good.

    Top Fin Plant Bulbs

All they need to sprout is water, to dilute the acid that doesn't allow plants to sprout. It will need sunlight and oxygen or CO2 once they sprout.

    Guppy colony feeding

The little guys don't really have a big gut so I feed 2-3 times a day usually.

    Dual tank stand?

If you wanted to do the cast iron like you were talking about you could maybe bolt it to the studs in you wall to keep from wobbling. That's what I do when my tanks are on carpet.

    Guppy colony feeding

I grab a pinch full of a mixture of finely ground flakes, freeze dried brine shrimp, and freeze dried bloodworms and put my fingers just under the water. It sinks faster so the little guys on the bottom have a better chance of getting some.

Never seen a Nitrite spike. Normal?

I deem it..... Uncycled. If you have never seen nitrate before dosing then your nitrite nitrifying bacteria haven't started to develop. In my opinion, I've never used that chemical you're using, the chemical your putting in the tank is just bandaiding the ammonium problem, so that's why you...

    New white spots

Hmm I don't really mind the look, it kind of gives the leaves pattern. Thanks for all the info!

    New white spots

Exactly thank you! They can only reproduce in salt correct?

    New white spots

Pictures are unavailable sorry. But the spots are uniformly in a line straight up the stem. Does this sound like nerite eggs?

    New white spots

So I have a 55gallon tank and I've had numerous anubias from petsmart in there with atleast 15 other plants. The problem is that today I found white spots( almost perfect circles) on two of the stems on one of my anubias. I have nerites and apple snails that I sometimes see on it, but I was...

    Type of Sand for substrate?

Last week I put 150 pounds of pool filter sand in my tank. It took me about 30 minutes to rinse. Then today I put 100 pounds of black diamond blasting sand in only washed for about 30 minutes as well. It's not very time consuming. I put about about a gallon bucket full of sand under a shower...

    Lights!!

Those look good. Do you hang them from the ceiling? That might be a deal breaker for me

    Lights!!

Okay well it was the petsmart fish tube that was labeled fern. How would I go about finding a light setup like that? Any big stores? Or did you special order?
  21. JoeyGGGG

    Lights!!

I have a standard 55 gallon tank set up with about 10 amazon swords, 6 anubias, a wisteria, anarchias, or however you spell that, and aquatic ferns. My question is that with a standard 55 with it's original hood could I grow these plants effectively? I have the 15 watt t5 plant growth tubes.

    Scissors in a tank?

When I first read this I thought you meant store your aquarium scissors in your tank. For example you have a deep sand bed and you just stick em down there and just grab when needed. Haha

    Plant growth/health

I have a 55 gallon with a bubble wall running the back of the tank. I placed it at the bottom of my 3 1/2 inch sand bed, because it looks cool when the bubbles come popping out the sand. Okay so anyway I have my plant roots basically touching these bubble wands and the bubbles are coming in...

    Striped peacock eel

He is in the sand every time I'm around my tank, so pictures have yet to happen. Also I don't know if he's eating either.

    Striped peacock eel

I have a regular phone:( I'll see what I can do tomorrow. I can quite a busy day today otherwise I would be all over it. A quick question too. So if he is partially dug in, except for his head protruding from the sand, is that okay to feed him or should I wait till he is totally above the substrate?
