Just to update.. a week after I got my danios .. I still have the 6 tetras :) Water levels are spot on : Ammonia and NitrItes at 0 and NitrAtes at 10.

How long had you had him? I guess I'd had the danios < 24 hours so hadn't had time to get too attached to them .

I want to add more oxygen to main tank anyway .. At present the filter (Fluval U2 plus) is positioned so that there is a lot of surface agitation as the water returns to the tank. I was hoping that there would have been a way to add an airline and airstone to this filter but I do not have the...

The danios were in a bucket, not the main tank - wasn't ideal but was the best I had at the time. They were ill and the dealer placed theirs into quarantine the day after I purchased mine from them.

If only the initial LFS has danios in I may never have had this problem!! Although at least I'll be more clued up and prepared if it ever happens again but in a more established tank with more fish ... and ones I've had longer than a day!

Indeed, I think as soon as funds allow a second tank may have to be purchased! I think for now, I will stick with the bucket .. I know I am new to fish keeping and wanted to learn but didn't think I'd be thrown in at the deep end!!!

I can the danios to a 10litre bucket that has only been used for the aquarium with water from the aquarium ... and treat for white spot using medication? This would however, have no heater but would be at room temperature

Returning to store is not easy over here as it may be over there. I've contacted them so waiting to hear back. Only 4 remain alive in tank. As for hospital tank, that would require filter, heater etc too yes?
