Honestly it's been cycled etc. It did once have raised nitrite levels. But nothing bad since. I don't know how/why the levels are like that. They just are. Must be doing something good. :)

My answer to question 1. I clean my filters by dipping them in tank water during pwc. Then giving them a good few squeezes in the water. Does the job for me.

I'd certainly leave it a good 3 weeks and ensuring your water conditions are all good. Sorry another one has died.
