    Melafix

Does anyone else think Melafix is hard to pour? Every time I try to pour it into the little measuring cup I use, it runs down the side of the bottle (both 4 and 8 oz sizes). I always have to do cleanup of the general area after using Melafix. How do you guys pour it? :)

    Which Cories do I have?

So, I bought two Cories a couple weeks ago, and I haven't been able to find any information on which species of Cory they are. Directly Translated, the name at the LFS was "Flower" Cory. I doubt they are some rare species, as they were only about US$0.30 each. Can anyone give a positive ID...

Longest Fry can go w/o feeding?

I've got about 20 1 week old Red Platy Fry that, from birth, have been fed frozen baby Brine Shrimp 3-4 times a day, and had daily partial water changes. I'm going to take a trip this weekend, and will be gone from Friday night to Sunday night. Will they survive without feeding and water...

    Red Platy still sick (pics)

Hi all, I thought my Red Platy had fungus when large white spots (too large to be ich) appeared on her tail about a month ago, so I medicated with Waterlife Protozin. That seemed to get rid of most of it, and I followed that treatment with TetraMedica Fungistop. After I stopped the...

    Red Platy stopped eating

Argh, those who have read my last thread on Ich know that the 4 Red Platies I got about a month ago brought a whole host of problems with them. Just when I think I've got them all sorted out, I notice that one of the Platies has stopped eating, and is hanging out near the top of the tank most...

Removing medication color from silicone seals

So, the fungal medication turned the silicone seals on my QT tank bright blue. Any way to remove this? Even though the meds are removed now, the water still looks blue because of this.

Do plants need to be quarantined?

As the subject says. Can plants bring in fish diseases? Do they need the same quarantine regimen that new fish do (I usually do 2 weeks).

New arrival quarantine stress from being solitary?

I want to get an Albino Tiger Barb to replace one that I recently lost. Since my last new arrival brought ich, I'm going to play it safe, and from now on, all new arrivals get 2 weeks QT. Since conventional wisdom says that Tigers do better in groups of 6 or more, will a lone Tiger be stressed...

    Where to order Bio-Spira online?

Anyone know where to order Bio-Spira online? My searches of the forum turned up a guy in TN named Bernie, but his site says they are out of stock until the summer. Any other alternatives?

    Keeping a QT tank cycled

I recently set up a QT tank while my main tank is being treated for ich. In a couple weeks, when the QT tank inhabitants rejoin the main tank, it will be empty. I've read about various ways to keep the QT tank cycled, and was wondering what everyone's collective opinion on the best and/or...

Ich - temperature, light, and feeding

So, it finally happened. One of the Red Platies I brought home last week had Ich. He's got 4 spots now, but it doesn't seem like the other fish are affected yet. I'd prefer to do this without chemicals. Since I have cories, I'm not going to use salt, and have opted for the high temperature...

    Red Platy Variations

Hi all, new to the forum! So, I've been in Asia on extended assignment for a little over a year, and I recently got back into fishkeeping, after over 15 years since last having fish back in the US. It's amazing how inexpensive and plentiful fish are here compared to back in the US. The fish...
