    Sand substrate

How long do you leave your lights on? Also, getting some more cleaners would help manage it. Mike

    protien skimmer?

Indeed, more pwc's in a 30g. I've used skimmers in every system I owned, and it does cut down on maintenance for sure.

    Blue Throat Trigger

Just keep in mind that triggers do like to nibble on live rock and can make a mess..I had a mellow trigger that never bothered anything else in my tank. I would say no if you have inverts in there as they can be unpredictable.. Mike

    protien skimmer?

I would defnitely consider at least a small bakpak type skimmer..what kind of lighting do you have for the anemone? Mike

What is the minimum size tank for a Yellow Tang?

One thing to keep in mind is that a 29g will have quick temperature swings and less room for error if something goes wrong. I kept a couple of tangs in a 120g tank, but was taller than usual. The tang would defintely be happier in a 6ft tank. Mike

    I know it's been a while...

Absolutely! This is a very slow moving hobby if you want to be successful. Glad to see you moved over to the dark side..muhahahaha. You'll love it.

Planning for a future shark tank

One important thing I can suggest is to make sure the rock you put in there will be glued down. Sharks have a tendency to knock these down and can injure themselves. Lastly, I know a cat shark requires a minimum of 180g, but if you plan on keeping it through adult life, I would shoot for more of...

    I know it's been a while...

I have had a lot going on over the years, and had to leave the hobby for a while. I'm going to be setting up a new tank in the near future, probably somewhere around 240-300g size..haven't decided yet. I look forward to chatting with you all. Regards, Mike

Moving an eel out of the tank

Hello all - It's been a while since I've posted here, but I know I can always count on you guys to help. I am in the process of moving locally and need to break down my 120g tank. I have moved several times, but this will be the first eel I have ever moved and I want to make sure I remove him...

No worries. I have seen the way he takes the silversides off the stick. I would never stick my finger in there. Regards, Mike

    orange-rust color on base rock

I agree. The brown rust colored stuff is typically diatom blooms. One thing that I have learned over the years is don't stir it up, and let it die on its own. I agree that water changes will help reduce diatoms as well. Make sure water flow is as strong as it needs to be (75x10=750gph). HTH...
