oh okay. well ich is more likely to get into a stressed fish then happy fish. happy fish can usually defend themselves as their immune system is stronger. :-) happy fish are healthy fish :-)

yea, i cant use salt b/c of plants... and ive heard inverts are sensitive to salt, as well as meds. and also, you should be careful of just "dipping" ur fish, as the parasite can be in the stage of being in the water, or on the substrate.

see this is what i mean. theoretically, if the ick cannot breed in water temps of 85+, then they will die out.

but yes, i will need to be very careful in general with raising the temp.

my shrimp seem to be handling it well, as with my neons.

i have read that... and that is one of the places that say temp CAN kill it. but ive also heared from people that say temp alone will not do the job... which is why i wanted to know from someone who had done it before. :-/

i read somewhere that if you do get copper into the substrate, its practically impossible to remove. other then just changing it out. maybe this is what happened?

Ich? its a parasite. makes fish stressed, and i've heard it slows their appetite, and makes it harder for them to breathe, esp. if the parasite is in their gills. you'll see white spots on the fish, or the fish might "flash", which means they will rub against something hard, pretty fast, and you...

yea, until right now, i didnt even know anything about it. im so glad i caught it this early. im going to start raising the temp of the water, and hopefully everyone will make it through :-) i love my neons, every tank should come with 5 :-)

found the problem... Ich, they've been flashing and i can see the faintest white spots on one guys fin....

i have 5 neon tetra in my 10g tank atm, they seemed really happy until i added some ghost shrimp, and a couple anacharis. i htink they are being a little bit aggressive but im not sure if they're just happy, and playing around. some of them are chasing the others, like when one gets to close...

hey! same thing here! ones doing great, other, not so great. but i found out why it happened to me, i accidently put one in a partially shady part behind my driftwood, so it was not getting enough light. ive moved it, and hopefully it'll get green again. but yea, maybe the same thing for you?

yes, and along with the tannins, the humic acid (which usually comes from the specific type of tree/root in the area) can be added safely to the tank. as with most things, it really requires a big-ish tank, altho i only have a 10gallon. the neons still loooooove it. :-)

no, brackish is a mix of salt and freshwater, in places where the river would connect to the ocean. Black water is a specific type of area in the amazon. its called "amazon blackwater" you try and get only plants and fish found in that area, neon tetra and corydoras go well with it, as they are...
