I bought a cl tank yesterday. Its a 46 gallon bowfront but the center brace is broken. Should this be a concern? The tank is dated 1999 on the bottom. Thinking of just offering it back on cl as a snake tank. It did come with a new filter and new bottom filter also-I don't need them. :(

I would suggest that you cut up the old one- shake out the carbon-and add it in with the new one. No need to change every month-just rinse with tank water. I'd just add the used one in with the fresh one and not change them out often. Always keep an older one in there if you replace the filter...

I found ammonia at the dollar tree. I have also ordered it from Dr Tim's website. If you get it from there you will have a small bottle but it is concetrated to 2ppm per drop so it is easy to dose accurately. Hope this helps:cool:
