Thanks everyone, ya the aquaclear filter was the best HOB back in the day and Fluval made the best canisters so I wasn't worried about buying it as I knew it'd be good, I'll probably just have this as my build thread

Its probably been around a year or more since I've been here but I walked in petsmart the other day and they were doing the $1 per gallon tank sale, so I got a Fluval Aquaclear 50 filter and 20 gallon long tank, so Fluval owns Aquaclear now huh? I guess I'm cool with that, Fluval still good...
I had a power outage on Saturday night and it burned up my last working filter on my 65 gallon piranha tank. It only has one inhabitant a 6" or so red belly. I was worried about the water circulation and unable to afford a filter my brother offered to home him in his 55 gallon tall community...
I saw the aqueons too but the eshopps was cheaper, and I'm not looking for modular just want a pre built refugium.
Do they come with a pump? I'll get a over flow from the site mentioned earlier.

I got a 55 gallon tank and if there sale is coming up again I might do a sump and refugium with a couple of 40b tanks, I figure if I buy everything piece by I can make for a lot nicer set up.
I'd like to start off affordable then work my way up to the high end skimmers and filters and such. Want to start with some small clowns maybe some snails and small invertebrates like that.
From eye measurement I'd say the interior of my stand is 40" long maybe more its a good 30" wide or more stand what would fit in them and what about a refugium what are those and how do I get that started. I want to start with fowlr and move to corals and amoeba eventually with crabs and other...
Honestly it appears to be. It has a green tint to it on the sides where the corners meet I dont see on other tanks plus the glass is a inch thick. So would a wet dry style sump be ideal or a refugium style sump?
