So all of my fish died. I had an ammonia problem that I just couldn't kick. I guess I should cycle my tank before getting new fish? I dumped out the water, but do I want to do more than just add new water and put in Prime ammonia and water conditioner? What would be a proper stocking plan for...

Also, my filter has a removable, replaceable piece that looks like a big tea bag. I don't know what to call it. I do half water changes every two weeks.

I use a liquid kit, but it only indicates ammonia. I set up the tank maybe 2 months ago. I let it run without fish for a week. Is that enough of a cycle? How can I do fishless cycling I'd not everyone is dead yet?

Thanks everyone. I know that I have a lot of fish in the tank, nut they are ok since they are all still very small and young. I willbe upgrading in a year or so when the fish get larger. What is BB?

Also, how quickly do they need to be replaced? Since they are schooling fish and all, and there is only one left...?

The ottos are new. I've had them since Wednesday the 28th. The gourami has been there for a month. The others 2 months or maybe 10 weeks. Yes I cycled the tank. I put in the anti-ammonia stuff, and that always seems to do the truck. But even if it is the ammonia, then why were their tails missing?

What type of algae eater is appropriate for a 10 gallon. I have 3 cardinal tetras, 1 ack skirt tetra And 1 blue dwarf gourami. I don't really have an algae problem; I just think they're cool :-)

Yeah, but within a month I'm in love with the hobby. And I got the wrong set up so I was either going to have to get rid of some fish or get a bigger tank.

I have a 5 gallon fw and love it! After receiving advice from AA members, I am upgrading to a 10 gallon. My LFS told me to run the 10 for 24 hours and put half of the water from the 5 in there. Then add the fish. What should I really do? :-) thanks
