    Corydoras and plants?

If you want a nice carpet it's best to establish the HC before you add cories, just incase they uproot it

    Corydoras and plants?

I keep cories in all my planted tanks. The issue is small plants with small root systems such as glosso or HC. Most plants will be fine :)

    Water Changes/Cycle Question

You really don't have to let the tap water sit. I use seachem prime and I add it directly to the tank and use a python to add the water. You should agitate the water a little to ensure the prime is distributed evenly. You shouldn't be doing many water changes during your cycle unless the levels...

+1 Hatchets are great!! Make sure you buy them in a group (6+) and they should have some floating plants to feel really comfortable. :)

    CO2 for a 5ft tank?

I don't mind spending $$$ if it is gonna be done well, its pretty much a big initial cost with a low running cost. Obviously if costs can be cut somehow its a bonus, but I dont want any issues with cheaply bought plastic equipment ect.

    CO2 for a 5ft tank?

I have a Juwel Vision 450 tank which is 5ft long, 2 foot high and at its widest point, 2ft wide. It holds about 450Litres(110 gallons). I have numerous plant species and fish(including discus). Other info can be found in my thread(linked in signature). I dose excel as my 'carbon source' although...

    Glow Danios.

You should steer clear of GM fish, they arn't natural and have a short lifespan.

    anybody tried flourish excel

I use it, and in my opinion it is a great product. It isn't 'Liquid CO2', which most people believe it is, it is a product that is basically filled with carbon compounds and also promotes the production of ferrous iron(great for plants).

    tank mates?

I keep a school of 20 Columbian tetras with my discus and rams. They colour up really well and get to a decent size of about 7cm. They are not fin nippers and they school around together well. I also keep sterbai cories as they can handle the high temps that discus need( 28°C/82°F). Make sure...

Help ID some algae and give some advice on treatment?

Looks like Black brush algae. It spreads quickly so you should remove all plant leaves affect and scrub any decor. It can also be removed by excel spot treating. Just lower the water level and with a clean fine paintbrush apply some flourish excel to the affected areas. Leave for a couple...
