So I've decided to do a slow upgrade to a 125 Gallon reef. So far I have the new tank, canopy, and stand set-up. The tank is a pre-drilled dual overflow style. I have the plumbing pretty much figured out. I have several questions for everyone, but I will start with the a sump question first...

Are you sure the tank cycled? Seems like you should have some nitrates in there if it had...how did you cycle the tank?

I would agree with tone and go LED. I have 2 DIY kits on 55 and 37 gal tanks and am working on designing one for my new 125 gal reef. They run cool, are dimmable, have customizable colors, and last forever.

I have to agree with Terrance and say that adding clowns after losing five fish would be a huge mistake. Definitely get a test kit or have your lfs test your water until you have zero ammonia and nitrite. Then think about adding the clowns.

Thanks for the quick responses! The tank is about 6 months old, so yes, it is fairly new. I had no idea that coralline had different light requirements...I guess that's one of the best parts about this hobby...we learn something new every day! :thumb:

Can too bright of light bleach coralline algae? I have a 37 gal with 26 3w Cree LEDs over it and it looks like my rocks that were covered in pink coralline have bleached white. Any thoughts? The first picture was taken a few months ago and the second is zoomed in of the rock on the top right...
