DIY horizontal algae scrubber at 2 weeks

So i wanted to build my algae scrubber a long time ago, but I never got around to it. I finally finished it 2 weeks ago. So far the growth has been really good. Algae has just about covered the screen. I made it out of a sterilite plastic drawer, and it is gravity fed straight from my...

    Blue chromi not eating

Bought 2 chromis from the pet store, from the same tank, at the same time. One of them eats everything he can, but the second one isn't as interested. It swims around near the bottom. How do o get it to eat?

Why are my fish missing the food?

But it doesn't explain why they are totally missing the food.

Why are my fish missing the food?

I was wondering if they were blind, but I don't think so. They respond when you move your hand outside of the tank.

i don't have a recent reading, except for salinity is 1.024. ammonia is acceptable. my other tests have expired (i was using test strips, which i know now aren't very accurate)

Why are my fish missing the food?

My blue spotted toby and my cinnamon clown completely miss the food when they try to eat it. This is a recent thing, because before they both used to jump at the food and eat as much as they could. Now they miss it 9 out of 10 times they try to eat it. Why??? They appear otherwise healthy...

    lighting

Lower Kelvin temps cause algae growth. I have 10,000 K bulbs on my tank. Also depend what look you want. Higher Kelvin bulbs means more blue light.

    cycling question

If it has not been cured already, this would be a good time. The die off from the rock and the rotting shrimp would cause a good ammonia spike. Just make sure everything tests at 0 before you put anything alive in there.

    Clown behavior

Sounds to me like they are becoming a mated pair. The one doing the twitching is submitting to the other one, which will become the female.

How many blue green chromis would I need to get a good schooling effect?

At least five. I'm looking to catch a few for my tank. Really nice fish.

    Clownfish

Separate tank, very good water conditions just to get them to breed. I dont think you need additives, but baby clownfish only eat rotifers. You have to grow those yourself, but you can get starting cultures online for pretty cheap

    Lighting

I have the aquatic life 48 inch t5 High output. Basically the same thing you describe here, 4 x 54 watt bulbs, and it's controlled by a computer. I really like it. I recommend it, but the one you describe here looks good too. I also got mine 2nd hand

    30g tank build starting soon

Thats what I did when I got my light fixture. Most people just leave it open but I had too much evap. I would go with an all glass cover though because metal halides get really hot.

    Moving my tank.

Just moved it last week and it's doing great, no problems moving it and I didn't lose any fish. But I thought I was going to lose my clown at first.
