Super glue works also. Reefers have used it for years on coral fragments.

DIY PVC tank add ons like spray bars. Are they bad?

I would say bull. PVC is used for drinking water lines in homes all the time.

    Aquaclear 110 power outage issue...

I have several AC 110's, 70's and 20's. I have only had to prime them after water changes. I routinely turn my filters off during feedings. I forgot to turn on back one today for 2-3 hours. I did not have to re-prime it. How long of a power outage does it take for it to drain?

    wisteria. what does it need?

All you need is water and light. I have some connected to a tall ornament by a rubber band. It is floating at the top of the water. I have to give it a "hair cut" every month or it will cover half of the 100 gallon tank it is in. I trim it back to a small clump.

    Ken's Premium Flake Food

I have noticed that Ken's products dissolve in water very quickly, especially the pellets or sticks. It creates a lot more maintenance.

Using Lego bricks as bio media?

I don't think they would be very effective. With bio media you are looking for something with a lot of surface area. Lego bricks are solid, so your surface area is limited. Some examples of things that people use are: ceramic rings, bio-balls, nylon pot scrubbers, and lava rock.

    Eclipse/ Sun Catfish

Mine took about 5-6 months, but mine is in my SA/CA cichlid tank and only gets what the big fish don't get.

    Need ideas on water storage

You need at least to have a either a hole in the top or a valve for air to enter. I guess if you are that worried about particles from the air, you could use an air filter.

    Odessa Barbs

I love them. I have several in my 125 gal barb tank. My LFS has a picture on the tank to show buyers what they look like when they color up.

Going to look at my first used tank from CL

Check the seams that there isn't any gaps in the silicon. Look and see if there have been any noticeable repairs. If there are you might need to reseal the tank before using it.

    Water changer and filler

I have both the Python and the Aqueon. The Python is 2x as fast draining a tank, but the Aqueon's parts seem better built. Python has more choices when it comes to the length of the gravel vac. I have a 12", 24", and a 36".

    New Canister Filter?

I have 3 of the AquaTop CF-500UV filters, 2 Rena XP4 filters, 1 Eheim Ecco Pro 2232 (35 gallon) and a Fluval FX5. The Rena, Eheim and the FX5 are well constructed. The Aquatop has cheap plastic parts that break. The Aquatop does do a great job of filtering for the money. The Rena is easy to...

    The wisteria is taking over...

My wisteria went from one small plant to floating over 2/3 of my 100 gallon tank.It was blocking the light from reaching the plants at the bottom. I found scissors are the best way to control it. I cut it back to a small plant about every month.

I'm new to this forum and filters for a 125g

Some people call them scrubbies. They are made out of nylon or plastic and used to scrub pots and dishes. They have a lot of surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow on. They are also very cheap. I can usually buy 6 for $1 at any of the local dollar stores. Just google scrubbies if you...

    Visi-therm heater failure:(

I have had one that is not keeping a constant temperature. It is really on the low side. I really miss the stealth pro heaters. They were always right on the dot. I have bought several of the Eheim Jager heaters and have not had much luck with them either. One of them is 7 degrees lower...

I'm new to this forum and filters for a 125g

I have both the XP4 and FX5. Both have their pluses and minuses. Both are high quality. The XP4 is the easiest filter I have to clean. It would not do my 125 gal barb tank by itself. I had to add a second filter. The FX5 is a beast and would handle a 125 gallon no problem. It can be a...
