Best place to pick up lights

Haha... I called a LFS and they have a stip that would hold 2 bulbs, that is the max I can find around here... think that will do? Just afraid this is going to be a challenge to find 36' light bulbs in any watt around here....

Best place to pick up lights

Hello, I am currently trying to find a bulb for my 46gal. I would like to have aprox. 100 watts for that size, but it seems difficult in my area to find a 36' bulb, not to mention anything above a 30 watt. Anyone know of a good store or website where I might get something like this?

    Must be doing something wrong...

Hmm ...Well I will not use the co2 if it causes more pain that is solves. As far as lighting, we are going to upgrade and know that might have been a problem.. forgot to mention that in the previous post. We are only at a 30 watt at the moment which of course in a 46 is way too low. My husband...

Uneven floor.... Is my tank safe?

I would be concerned with an uneven tank. In my home I have virtually the same problem. the floors are not even. My problem was my 46 gal bowed front. It would not stay level and the pressure mounted to one side. This would have evntually tipped the tank and made it very dangerous. I also...

    Do fish normally just dissapear?

(along side my snail infected tank i have another question) in my tank i had two female guppies, one that happened to be fancy and the other plain. For a while my fancy guppy was looking kind of thin and was haning mostly at the bottom of the tank. i thought perhpas the other female, who was...

    KILL YOUR UGF

(ps, of course lfs opinions have to be taken with a grain of salt but just posting that to show another opinion.) you know it is great that you are passionate about this all. It provoked a huge discussion that -will- help some people out in their own debates. Just perosnally i wouldn't have...

    KILL YOUR UGF

i just had a conversation with my favorite (knowledgable) fish store, i am in the market for a stronger filter for another of my 20gals.. they actually told me, no matter what anyone says, the UGF is a great filter and the most like the fishes normal habitat, plus the bio filtering. Personally...

    Huge snail problem

Ack ~laughs~ ok .. i just called my favorite fish store, the people there always seem to know everything about everything and can talk about it for hours. I call in and say, "Hey i have a 20gal, with live plants and an UGF and i need a solution. (basically)." Just kind of an FYI this is what I...

    Wild fish?

Sounds like it would be awesome to have fish out of the wild rather than taking them from the local store, but I would personally be worried about sickness and things. I mean, this is kinda related but not completely... but when I was really young my sister and I had one of thoes back yard...

    Huge snail problem

~sighs~ yeah that is what i was rather afraid of. About a month ago or so I was about to rip out my UGF but ran out of time to do it so it stayed put. Rather luckly I guess in one way. Both my husband and I bought an over the back back filter at the same time and now, at the same time, they both...

    Huge snail problem

Again I am posting here out of a bit of frustration. After pulling out over 60 snails, today I took out another 30-40 and the tank is still absolutly crawling with them. This is the largest problem I have encountered. I am assuming that the snails are laying eggs and they are hatching in my...

    neon gourami - experiences

From what I was told, and previouly understood some gourami are simply more docile than others. The neon I was told was the least agressive of all of them. The regular spotted, and the orange colored etc, are more agressive and territioral. But I still never remembered having any problem with...

    Huge snail problem

Well I was thinking about the suggestions that you guys have made; putting the loaches in for a few days at max just to help rid of the problem. My other reasons for being timid with the loaches are the fact that, in my husbands tank they are very active and have taken over some of the hiding...

Thanks. I do think I will go safe and keep my solo neon. Perhaps at another time I can add other fish.

    Huge snail problem

Hello everyone, About a month or more ago I introduced a pennywort to my tank and made the mistake of not saltwater dipping it before placing it in the tank. I ended up with about 3 snails which I stupidly thought nothing of and left alone. I didn't put much thought to that fact that there were...

    neon gourami - experiences

Hello everyone, Today I picked up 1 dwarf neon gourami. I was in the market for 3, However the man at the fish store advised against it saying 1 would be the happiest number seeing that they were all male and tended to be territorial and my tank seemed pretty full as is. [Which is true however...

    good hidding places..

Thanks for the replies everyone. You know I have read where you can coax the pennywort to grow horizontal rather than completely vertical. I think I may try that actually, if i can remember how... I am hoping my cories come out of the skiddish behaviour but I am begining to seriously doubt it...

    good hidding places..

Hello, In my semi-planted 20gal I have 3 bronze cories that are a bit skiddish for whatever reason. To help coap with the problem I have one of those fake tree stump looking caves that they hide in. However, I am about to change the tank a bit, removing the UGF and trying some new plants. At...

Which are the "extremely" low light plants?

in fact i am also looking for some intersting plants that might be better at a lower light. at the moment i am debating heavily on java moss as i have heard it can tend to be a mess. but i do have a pennywort that is doing wonderful with my 15wts. Luck have it, hope it doesn't die off ~jinx~

changing the set up of a 20gal, looking for suggestions

Sounds good to me. i was wondering if i could use the water from my tank again when the UGF was removed or if i would have to use new water. That helps a lot. It actually didn't don on me to use my current tank water in the QT tank.. duh.. i am just extremely worried that i will loose one or...

changing the set up of a 20gal, looking for suggestions

At the moment I have a 20 gal tank that I have had up and running for about 2 months. (Not too long) I have big dreams for my tank but am not happy with the current set up. When I purchased the tank I put in a UGF, the cheapest way to start out. I then added a bio whisper filter. I have now in...
