    Driftwood

I brought in some rocks and am now soaking them....There should be plenty of nooks and crannies to get enough rocks into to hold it....... Hopefully

    Driftwood

How do I get my driftwood water logged and settled on the bottom? I soaked it in the bathtub in bleach water and then soaked it again in plain tap water. It is too big to boil and all that. I have it in my 125 gal and it is floating....will it ever sink? do I need to place something heavy on...

    Fuzz algae help?

I don't know man.....sorry :( You don't want your nitrates to get over 20ppm no matter what if you have fish. What are your reduced light issues? It sounded to me like your lighting was probably sufficient.

    Starting a shrimp farm

It appears that I should put a little more effort in to learning how to care for baby shrimp. Is my old HIB filter gonna work? It's just the cheapie walmart aquatech 5-15.

    Starting a shrimp farm

Well, some of the plants came out of an established tank. I tried to seed it originally, but got a hold of wal-mart's ammonia the first time around. I took the filter out of an established tank, but when I used the wrong ammonia I had to rinse it all out and wash everything :(

    Fuzz algae help?

P.S. I have the Nutrafin co2 system with the ladder.....I don't think a whole hell of a lot of it, but put it in my 5 gal. DIY systems can be made much much better. I don't think the ladder is very efficient.

    Fuzz algae help?

for a 20 gal a diy system should be sufficient. You will need a check valve appropriate tubing a diffuser or better yet a reactor I wouldn't think that for a diy 20gal system that you would need a bubble counter and all that, unless you wanted to make it pretty sophisticated. I'm guessing...

    Fuzz algae help?

can I see some pics? It sounds a lot like my situation with, of course, a different build. I started my 125 in december and don't have a co2 system in place. I don't use all the ferts but I did put in soil and eco complete substrate. I've got some white funk growing all over that seems to be...

    Starting a shrimp farm

Hey thanks everybody! thats what I figured with the glo-fish. They were one of my first purchases and i now leave them in my 10 gallon...someday maybe a quarantine. However, they can't live in the 125 gal cause they would get eaten...lol Was hoping to find them a home, but oh well...

    Starting a shrimp farm

Hey thanks for the tip...something I just completely overlooked. Of course, I have to get it habitable first...heh heh! How about RCS or CRS?? I have no experience with any of them and not sure what to expect Would glo-fish live with them without threatening the young?

Oscar with troubling spot on head

I feed Hikari Cichlid gold, shrimp pellets and algae wafers. Occasionally bloodworms.... Actually, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it was just a scrape. My concern is that if he did sustain an open wound that my fungal problem in the tank might have set in on it.

Oscar with troubling spot on head

Is this of major concern? I just noticed it today and I have been having water quality issues (fungus or bacteria) of which I still haven't determined. The Oscar now has a spot on the top of his head above his eye. I am freaking out now, worried about my other fish. I have been doing...
