I am absolutely loving my plants right now, and I found a great LFS for plants. Need to make a trip out there soon. I'm feeling a need for a kitchen plant/shrimp tank...
Welcome to the forum!
Melafix and bettafix (a more diluted version of melafix) can be dangerous for bettas. Before resorting to meds, just keep the water very very clean. You can also add an Indian almond leaf to the water.
Such a rapid weight loss makes me suspect an internal parasite of some sort. Have you noticed any white or stringy poop?
Do you have driftwood in your tank? It is always recommended to keep driftwood in any tank with a pleco as they eat it and that actually provides most of their fiber intake...
Welcome to the forum! The guppy definitely looks squared off and close to dropping her fry. I would keep her in the breeding box and keep a close eye on her for a day or two, but if she hasn't given birth by then just release her back into the tank. Some guppies get a bit stressed in the...
29 gallon planted tank is up and running! Guppies, peppered cories, and snails for now. Need to up my cory numbers to 6 bit for now that's all I'm stocking as the guppies are being quite prolific. 3 females, one male, and roughly 5 zillion fry.
Just need to reacquaint myself with the new tech that I'm sure has come out in the last 6 years or so then the plan is a nice well-planted community tank. If I remember correctly you are a plant guy, any specific recommendations?
It's been a few years since I logged in here as I generally got out of the hobby for a while, but I'm back!
I have an empty 29 gallon I'm just dying to get running after nearly 6 years of not being able to have fish. Putting off the big stuff as we are planning on buying a house and moving in...
I hope the surgery works out. It's a shame they were just going to kill him if you didn't take him.

Got a pic that sort of shows some of the pink hues they are developing. They get prettier and prettier every shed. I was told they were potentially corals when I got them but I was skeptical. I can't wait to see how they look a year from now.

They are all beautiful. The water snake sounds really cool.
Fed mine tonight, Spike ate but Dru didn't. She looks like she may be getting close to a shed, though. Last night I noticed that they both are developing more pink coloration. The guy I got them from said they were possibly corals...
That is a beautiful python! And I think mine are thoroughly onto f/t. Three weeks straight they have both taken frozen now. I was shocked when Dru took a frozen mouse without even striking it. She just sniffed it and started eating it. She's probably 2 and a half feet long now, with a diameter...
Been a while since I posted. Both of my babies are doing great. Shedding regularly, eating very well, and nice and friendly. Trying to get them on frozen mice and so far so good. Gave them each a thawed adult mouse tonight and they both struck in seconds.

My back is aching just thinking about that... I can't move my 56 by myself when it's empty!

Today I dug out my fake plants, did a big water change, redecorated, and added 11 zebra danios.

I did a big water change and picked up some zebra danios. I spent quite a while looking around my lfs and decided on them because they seemed to be the tightest schoolers they had that were big enough not to be eventual angelfish food. They seem to be doing well so far. My next addition will be...
I have a few LFSs that I really love, and even one of the big box stores (the one ending in O) has some great staff. The only time I really wanted to smack someone there was when they hired someone else as aquatics manager and then lost that employee somehow a couple months later... they should...
The issue is space. I picked him up a 29 gallon but it won't fit. So I guess I have a new 29 to replace the 20 high I'll be giving him instead. The only spot big enough for a 29 isn't strong enough to hold it and is currently holding a 20 long with my beloved snakes in it.

I would probably go for a bigger tank. Half a gallon is too small for much of anything. A 5 gallon would probably work well. If I remember correctly dwarf frogs do best when in groups of 3+ as well so maybe a 5 with another frog or so would help. Have you researched cycling a tank yet? A filter...
