I bought them at the store. I think I have 2m and 1f in the tank with 3 danios. Not positive on the sexes. They were mostly unsexed. Every article I read had no mention of them being Mbuna and didn't know they were aggressive. I couldnt find any apistos or drawves at the store and wasnt about...

Well I purchased three Kenyi cichlids and placed them in my 30g. I will most likely be selling my community fish from my 55g and converting that to a SW or cichlid tank.

I think I read somewhere that mixing some saltwater in a bucket and then placing the rock into the bucket to get all the critters into the water and you can choose what critters you want to keep or dispose of then place that rock into the tank.

as i thoguht i didnt explain myself well enough. i noticed when you get a remora skimmer you can get either the rio or maxi jet (the better).... this maxi jet is a powerhead yes? I was wondering if THIS one counts as one of the 2 i need powerheads i need? If not, ill buy 2 more maxi-jet 1200...

For an aside about the remora skimmer. If i buy the remora with the maxi jet, can i consider this powerhead to be one of the two i need for a 55g? Im not sure if this powerhead w/skimmer is used for another puropose. hope that makes sense. tia, dan

What brand and size powerheads do you guys suggest if I need two for a 55g? Are 2 Maxi-Jet MP 1200 good enough or too much? tia, dan

i have a 25g FW and an empty 30g which I will also make a FW if i decide to make the 55g a SW. I love FW and wouldnt get away from it. Other than the skimmer, LS, and LR...what else is needed for a SW tank? Thanks again, Dan

I have a 55g FW tank I know I want to change to a SW, perhaps a reef. I'm convinced (by AA members) the Remora Pro with Mag 3 is the right skimmer to use but do SW tanks also use filters (Filstar, Eheim, etc..) because I see no mention of them with SW talk? I'm assuming so but was wondering...

Thanks for your responses guys, If I were to move my other FW fish to the 30g and 25g and free up the 55g, would this allow me to get any bigger cichlids than the 4" max I mentioned above? Thanks, Dan

Hey menagerie, I was looking for some small cichlids that grow no larger than 4" and was suggested to look at rams, dwarves, kribnesis, apistos, keyholes....(someone from another site said rams wouldnt do).... Ideally Id like to get the more popular ones but I know green terror, jack dempsey...

I keep hearing about Cichlids eating up live plants and have been suggested to go with plastic though I love live plants. Which do you suggest? Also, if I use live plants, would using solely Seachem Flourite as a substrate be okay? Eco-Complete in my 25g works well. TIA, Dan
