    Ick Causes and Cures

I just wanted to give everyone an update. All fish and snails are alive and well. I started all of this during the Arctic Vortex and had some trouble getting the tank to the required 86F. I did two days of chemical treatment and saw immediate loss of visible ich/ick parasites. water changes have...

    Ick Causes and Cures

That's the plan minus the salt. Heading for 89F for the next three days and plenty of gravel vacuuming. Then 86F for 7 more days and more vacuuming. Sounds like good living.

What about the pleco and snails? I'm raising it now. At as it was low to begin with.

    Ick Causes and Cures

it sounds like the best option is to remove all the fish and invertebrates. Then treat the tank as aggressively as I can. And treat the fish/invertebrates in the qt. Our at least at the pleco and snails.

Thanks everyone. Did it come from another's tank? It's it somewhere in my household?

    Ick Causes and Cures

I was chatting with the lfs guys about ick. They didn't seem to know the root cause, but thought it came from sick/stressed fish(more often than not from the "big" stores. Is it a parasite? Where does it come from? One thought that my Clown Pleco was particularly susceptible. Is that true? If so...

    Stocking my 30g

I have two albino cory and they are all over the place. I think I'm going to get some more and see how it goes. I'll keep you posted. They seem fine, but hide until food hits the tank or I move the gravel.

    Stocking my 30g

I'm asking for some stocking help for my 36g bow front, and I happened upon AqAdvisor. I haven't had many responses to my post, but it seems very helpful for assessing your tanks population. R p.s. it also tells you the proper minimum populations for your fish.

    Stocking HELP!

Thanks, NY. I really feel like a messed up getting two males, but my wife picked them up for me, and I think this is a perfect way to convince her to let me get another tank going. Also they are awesome. I'm going to be keeping a very close watch. I could always sell him back to the lfs if all...

    Algae. Unsightly and healthy?? Idk

Cool if you're going to continue the experiment be vigilant of you water parameters. I also don't think your filter would slow down the Algae and it will keep you fish safer. Is you light on a timer? Maybe add an hour or two but the fish need dark time too. R

    Algae. Unsightly and healthy?? Idk

You should at very least agitate the water surface to add O2. Are you running a power head or bubbler? Also you really should check you water for Ammonia, Nitrates and Nitrites. Was the tank cycled before? I imagine this non-filtration is going to catch up to you. R

    Stocking HELP!

I have a 36g bow front FW tank planted and fake plants. I would like some advice on the number of fish I can have and what communities I need to build. I have Two male Dwarf Gouramies (I have already discussed this and believe they will be fine for a while and if they get antagonistic with each...

    Glass catfish

You seem very patient. Hold on a bit. It really sounds like you are are close but maybe jumped the gun on adding fish. If you read the earlier post and test your water you'll be better off. If you see nitrates you'll know you are ready for fish and healthy fish.
  19. LEBEANPOLE

What happens when your nitrates are really high?

180? Holy yellow tank Batman! Kiss those fish and do another 50% WC now.

    Tiger Barbs & BA Tetras

Sinking pellets are great, but take a great deal of time and effort to feed your fish without loading your tank with food. Get some ambitious Cories if you follow through with this.

    Cories in a tall tank?

I have a 36g tall tank with two african albinos they love it. I have two back mounted filters, four bubbling stones and a bottle (self made, fluval stone) bio filter. They spend little time still like I have seen other cories. R

    Dwarf Gourmamies

That is good to know. I think i will wait for another tank to do the beta, and keep an eye out for the tiger barbs and DG's. Thank you all for the help. Does anyone have a clown pleco? I usually have had rhinos, BUT i thought i would try him instead. Any advise there?

thank you. Very good to know. I wouldn't want that to happen.

    Dwarf Gourmamies

seems to be. 1 does swim around a great deal more. The other hides pretty much. What about the beta question? I also put pictures of the tank on my photos.
