    Diatom Algae?

The brown algae is very common in newer tanks do to the hgih amount of unused silicates in the tank especailly the gravel. Ditto to what tankgirl advised about ottos. They are excellent for dealing with brown algae.

    Will Oscar fins grow back?

They should grow back. I have a long fin that occassionaly get torn up and they grow back slowly. As for where you got your fish from, I have heard nothing but horror stories from other people that have gotten fish from there. I would personally boycott that place but thats just me.

    Feeding a Spotted puffer

My spotted puffers eat like horses and they are only about an inch long. I am trying to figure out what to give them to keep their beeks worn down. I put a few fiddler crabs in the tank with them and they did eat one of them but don't seem interested in them anymore. I know that they will go...

    ATTN: Dwarf Puffer Owners

I have a couple of spotted puffers. The real "Green Terrors". They are awesome though, very inquisitive, and aggressive.

    Black Ghost Knifefish

Yeah they are electric fish. They use it the same way that dolphins use echo location so to put more than one BGK or any other electric fish such as elephantnoses would screw up their sensory. They can become a little territorial if they are housed with a lot of other fish. They are cool looking...

    Strange tank size......

Small schooling fish would be ideal. Barbs, cories, tetras. Or maybe gouramis.

    Cichlid advice please (probably Oscars)

Hey Oscarbreeder, I have seen a unique color variation at http://www.liveaquaria.com. It was a zebra oscar. I have never seen one sold at a LFS. Thought maybe you'd like that one.

    Strange tank size......

It seems to be around a 20g high tank but those are weird dimensions.

    Price of a pleco

http://www.liveaquaria.com has gold nugget plecos for 28.95. $80 is definitely to steep. But as they say.... a sucker is born everyday.

    Baby Oscar

I would try getting it to take pellets. They are more nutritional. Give him as many as he will eat in about two or three minutes. You can give him other foods as treats, but avoid live food. They have barely any nutrional value and you can get diseases passed to your tank from the other.

Need tapwater advice: it's an ammonia bomb!

Never had any problems with amquel.

Does this sound right? (price for tank and everything else)

$84 for a 40g breeder! I am almost positive that Petworld(not sure if they are nation-wide) has them for approx $65. A 55g from there cost anywhere from $75-85. IMO that is too much.

Shrimp or snails for algae control?

    What about getting apple snails?

    Cichlid advice please (probably Oscars)

In a 75g tank two oscars would be ideal to have but no more than two. They can reach lengths of more than a foot long. One alone should be in a 55gal tank at that size. Don't think that because you see a dozen small oscars in a 20g that it would be good to keep a large amount in a 55 or 75...
