When I got my jack he was about 1.5 inch too... He would eat non stop... Now he is pushing 4 inch and I feed him once a day

Initially jack would only push him around when it came feeding time and ignored him otherwise.... Now jack stays in his cave all day doesn't even come out to eat and the gourami is always next to him now and sometimes just lays on top of him... Jack has been acting strange for over a month

I've been having a similar prob with my jack Dempsey... I let the nitrates and ammonia get a little high and he became very spooked.... Not eating nearly as much not sure if he is even eating at all... I am keeping up with water changes now and waiting it out... Good luck

When he was eating, it got to the point where he wouldn't touch the pellets.... But I will take the advice and only put pellets in and see how it goes

I usually give him live crickets, ghost shrimp, frozen blood worms, beef heart, brine shrimp, live guppies.... I try to change it up... I used to feed him twice a day.... Before would eat 6 shrimp at a time or two cubes of the blood worms or brine shrimp.... I put two guppies in there a couple...

No change in diet except he won't eat....light is on 8-10 hrs a day and I've started to cover the tank at night cause I'm awake all hours of the night... It's usually just me around the tank sometimes friends and family..... Right before this started happening he did get spooked as I walked in...
