you will know when the cycle is done after you monitor the ammonia level, then you will get nitrites, then you will get nitrates and then you do a large waterchange. then you can test by introducing ammonia and seeing if it turns to zero within 24 hours then your cycle will be complete.

i bought a 125 un-drilled tank and whent to glass-holes.com and bought a drill overflow kit....its surprisingly easy to do and install... this is the option that i would suggest to you. Eliminate yourself of any possible water mishaps would be a wise investment for your expensive hobby!

what i would do if you cant get a new sump, is take a piece of acrylic and make it so that it is 4 or 5" bigger on all sides or even copy the side of the tank and seal it on the outside of the sump.. make sure the sealant is around the crack and then seal the rest of the edges.

i have the same skimmer, its a single head though. i ran a hose into a bucket or a bottle to collect the skimate. you have to have a lot of air going into the skimmer for it to work properly.

is it getting air? i have a single head and it wont work at all without the air . Also with a new skimmer a lot of people are sayng they have a breakin period..... not really sure ?

i am going to start to cycle my tank and have decided to try the shrimp and ammonia method. i have a 125g tank and have a few questions before i get started.... do i need to use a shrimp if i use ammonia? do i put it in something for when it decays? do i put the shrimp in my sump or in the DT...

it is a used one, i think someone told me it sounded like a coralife skimmer....how do you go about adding tiny bits of air? i have the 2 airlines hooked up already, one to the pump and the other is just up in the air.

what do most people order? fish? corals? equipment? what kind of discount?

ok, so i got the skimmer working. any imput as to how it should be set to run? i had the bubbles going over the tube and into the cup, but it was filling the cup way to fast...like i would have to dump it after an hour or so...i haven't started my cycle yet and want to have everything set and...

i have a grey skimmer that has a red ring where you screw on the cup.... there is a little nipple that points down where the skimmed material sits.... is it supposed to drain back into the sump compartment or is it supposed to drain at all? i bought it at a garage sale and am wondering if i may...

hey there !!!! anybody got a site that sells good quallity live rock for my dt? i need some site's to check out!

is it correct that i could assume that i need to use a ball valve on the return instead of a check valve, for control of the flow and reliability reasons?

i have 2 1400 korilia pwerheads and the control wavemaker to go with all that. this should be good for that right? and just to make sure, the 1500 gph overflow should be enough as well right? i just need to think about the return pump going to the DT. right?

i will be cycling the water 12 times per hour ideally. maybe i don't quite understand flow yet..... could you explain to me why i need more flow? i could always add more overflows, i haven't drilled them yet!

really, 1500 gph isn't enough? how am i gonna control more than that with my sump? and return pump?

now im wondering if i should have purchased the return kit from glass-holes .com as well? wow this is getting expensive...... i knew it would be, but im getting a little nervous! i haven't even purchased the rock yet! It'll be O.K......Wife is on board!!!! I LOVE HER!!!
