cycling my new tank....Help?

i am going to start to cycle my tank and have decided to try the shrimp and ammonia method. i have a 125g tank and have a few questions before i get started.... do i need to use a shrimp if i use ammonia? do i put it in something for when it decays? do i put the shrimp in my sump or in the DT? how much ammonia do i add, i have seen some sites say to add 5 drops per every 10 gallons. will my water change colors and what can i do to cutdown on menace bacteria during this process?(i want my tank to be clean when its done !) i have been watching the post to see what others have done, but i am a little nervous !!! i have spent a lot of time and money invest into this and want it to be perfect! I will have more questions as i go but i need to get it going before i run into my next question....
