    Lighting

That's not cyano. It's coralline algae. I've been having a war with it, trying to keep it off the front glass. But back to lighting, I use 3 12,000K and 3 actinic bulbs. I was thinking maybe 4 actinic, 1 10,000K and 1 12,000K (or 5 actinic and 1 12,000K)

    Lighting

I know there's a little blur, but as you can see, there's a little more white light than I would prefer.

    Lighting

Since buying my new t5 lighting, I've wanted to put a more "Blue Hue" into the lighting. How would you arrange the bulbs, in order from the front to back? My fixture is a 6 bulb fixture, and the tank has various softies, lps, and a few sps and clams.

    Calcium Reactors

Yesterday, bad news hit me :( Usually, I test all my parameters my self, keeping everything in check and all. But my testing kit was a little old, and so I took it to my LFS. While there, I checked my calcium, phosphates, and pH. Phosphates and pH were in check, but the shock came from my...

    Cant find my peppermint shrimp!

Peppermint shrimp are cryptic. I have 7 in my 75 G, and the only time I see them is at night and feeding time. Just feed a little bit of food when the lights go out, and they should come out.

    Crabs

Actually, it seems more like a acropora crab. It doesn't look like a box crab, so I'd keep it, and see what it does

    Here with another anemone

About a week ago, I bought a green long tentacle anemone. It's been opening up nicely and the tentacles are nice and sticky, but it's foot doesn't want to stay down. I have a tomato clown hosting with it at night, which seems to have helped it out, but it's foot is my main worry. Is there...

    Scallops and others

My tank has been up and running for 4 years, and iv'e gone from fish-only to softies, and it's only been now that I noticed that there's been more filter feeders. Iv'e passed the copepod stage, and have even had oysters pop up. I have a coco worm that I've had for 8 months, and many fan worms...

    Scallops and others

Back with more questions:confused: Iv'e seen that my tank has been getting more micro tube worms, sponges and spaghetti worms. Does this mean that I have more food particles in the water? I plan on having more filter feeding animals, but would this be detrimental to sps corals in the aquarium?

    Medusa Worm Care

Has anyone had any experience with medusa worms? Iv'e heard about that they grow exponentially, and can destroy rockwork. Also, are they predatory or a planktonic feeder?

    Need help with moving corals

Some are attached to the rockwork. Problem is I have a foot long rock with star polyps on it. It's my prized coral, and I wonder about how they would be affected by light levels. Also, what are your preferences on lighting: T5 or LED. I'd consider the MHs obsolete, as energy consumption, heat...

    Need help with moving corals

I'm upgrading my lighting on my aquarium, and have a lot of soft corals. With the higher lighting, how can I move my corals to a lower position safely. Also, has anyone had any experience with montipora species like capricornis.

    Upgrading Lights to T5HO

Thanks. I love how all your coral is growing so fast!

    Upgrading Lights to T5HO

Thanks. I'd like to stay away from the metal halides since I also keep a few softies and zoas. I'd like to look into the LEDs. Also, can you suggest certain acropora morphs that are relatively easier to keep. Also some experience on ORA acropora.

    Upgrading Lights to T5HO

Lately, I have been feeling like my aquarium is a bit light starved. I have power compacts over it, with a fluorescent strip light in front. I'm thinking of upgrading to T-5s, but have seen that some hobbyists use more actinic bulbs, giving the water a bluer effect. I'm thinking of keeping more...

    More Deresa Trouble

Ok, looks like my clams on its way to heaven. For the past 3 days, my deresa has had a gapping problem, with the shell open, but the mantle's retracted. I've heard that this means certain death, but can someone help me save him.

    Algae and crab ID

The crab looks like a pebble crab. Sometimes harmless, but watch him close.

    Flame angel and Bicolor angel?

They can coexist, and they do need to be acclimated and introduced together. There is the fact that you would need a lot of hiding places for them to establish territories. I had luck with a potter's and a bicolor, but they fought a little in the beginning.

    BLue Sponge

You need to watch out for blue sponges. They can release toxins into the water if the water chemistry doesn't add up.

    Reef Lobsters ???

Iv'e been looking at a 4 in Voigtmanns lobster at my lfs. They say he's been in their 225 gallon show tank, and has never done anything to the fish. He's about $45, and seems ok.

    breeding hermits

Iv'e had a few blue-leg hermits breed. The problem is the eggs, they never really survive.

    Engineer goby/convict goby

Mine was about 7 in, and never even noticed most small fish. I had 3 neon gobies, and they would practically sit on it, but he never really cared. I would look for something else, before I blame him. When I had him, the only thing he ever did was gulp down one of my sexy shrimp. :(

    Lionfish

Anything smaller than the lionfish's mouth is food. It should never be put with gobies, firefish, shrimp, small crabs(Hermits are ok), or really anything thats about 2 in. Ive found that if well fed, they'll ignore most fish. They are sedentary, and don't need to feed very often.
