after a few googles, it seems if extruded styrofoam is used, its impervious to water. however, expanded styrofoam would degrade slowly in contact with water. i think the 2" styro usually used in these projects are extruded styro from lowe's etc hardware stores.

i used drip acclimation from my main tank for about half-an-hour when i received mail order fish about a week ago. they are all doing fine :) . i don't use such drastic measures while acclimating fish from my lfs.

i'm having the same problem with my loaches. i had 4 in a 40g. after moving them to a 75g, the largest 2 have become shy or lazy. they come out only during feeding time. the tank has numerous hiding places, so i'm guessing that's not a problem. i'm not sure, but i think giving it some more...

i'd have to disagree with stuart... the yellow stripes is a melanochromis chipokae, distinguished by the tail. it is one of the most aggressive species among mbuna, even surpassing auratus. look out for its sex. the blue one is a melanochromis cyaneorhabdos (possibly). i do not want to say...
