Thanks guys, I ended up taking my Magnum 350 off my 90 gal freshwater and used the micron filter. I'm not kidding, within minutes the water was clearing up, and now about 2 hours later its almost crystal clear. Thanks for all the help, Matt

no, no, no, I don't want to build one, I'm just wondering how everything could seal up? Wouldn't the wood's expansion with humidity/temp pretty much make any seal leak at some point?

I'm not sure, but I would say that your ten gallon would benefit more from a powerfilter rather than a sump...if fact I think that some sumps hold about ten gallons of water and some are even made out of ten gallon tanks. I would just go out and buy a large powerfilter and replace the carbon...
