I've had several successful pairs of rams in the past. I just brought home a new pair of mature rams. One was clearly the dominant male of the tank when I picked him out, the other was clearly female when compared with its tank mates. The first night I brought them home they acted paired up and...
Finally cycled this week. About a week ago i checked everything and i still had high nitrites but was hetting higher nitrates as well. Checked it today and nitrites are zero. My nitrates are pretty low as well though. I havent done a pwc since i checked everything about a week ago. I started...
Lol mine snatches them from my fingers and chomps them down completely. How big is yours already? Mine is full vrown so he can swallow most small crickets whole. They have personality though which is always nice.
I'm finally down to virtually no ammonia levels but I'm still doing pwc daily because the nitrites are so high. Is that normal? The nitrate levels are coming along but theyre not considered high. They dont go above 40 with the daily pwc.
Ive ready the butterflies can be aggressive but ive never really seen it. Hes pretty passive as far as sharing personal space. My dwarf gourami will ear or explore right up against him and innocently bump and brush him and he doesnt care. He does get a little pushy when the dumb dumb mollies try...
ADDITION: that pleco is definitely too big for a 30gal. Good idea moving him. Ive stayed away from typical plecos for that reason. If you set up the smaller tank again stick to bristle nose and clown plecos. They only reach 4-5".
They arent really demanding as far as space goes. Theyre pretty solitary. Theyll pick a favorite corner and rarely stray from it. I think everyone was concerned about space because the regular gourami would all reach 6". Theyd get along fine with more space. But a new tank is always fun. If...
I know this thread is a month old but i wanted to comment. 1- big chain petstores will not take surrendered fish if they were bought elsewhere. 2- i have an african butterfly in a 30g with dwarf gourami. I ahvent found the butterfly to be aggressive. Hes gotten a little frustrated and pushy when...
I was just looking at my crumby pics that really dont do her pregnancy justice and noticed in one you can see her birthing tube extended. She only started showing it early today. About how long after it begins appearing will she be ready?
Ive seen squaring off in my balloon mollies.
These were the best pics i could get. Its hard to tell its not one big dark blob. I was only able to get these because shes in the box. Shes been hiding a lot which i know to mean shes prepping.
It doesnt have anything to do with color, but you cant always see THROUGH the fish clearly enough to see eyes. Since with this fish you can see everything inside her clearly i can (for the first time with my fish) see all the little eyes and even bodies.
Since this clearly means theyre almost...
I have a young pregnant red tiger platy. Its facinating because theyre so see through. Ive been watching her pregnancy progress. Shes shy to begin with so ive been unsuccessful getting any good pics of her.
But i was wonder what stage shes in when i can see pink goo with lots of little black...
Wonderful. I did my water change. It brought ammonia down to .25ppm and nitrites to .25ppm and nitrates to 20ppm. Ive been using prime's product since it helps detoxify high nitrites and nitrates in addition to ammonia. How long will these levels be all over the place? I'm guessing ill know the...
UPDATE: So today i check my ammonia levels and they are lower than theyve been ever during a 24hr period with no pwc. It dropped from topping out at 2ppm to 1 ppm. So i went ahead and checked my nitrite and nitrate levels. Hadnt checked them in a few days cause theyd been zero with high ammonia...

Fingers crossed. My fish are doing well with the changes. Looks like mu gbrs might try to spawn soon. Im creditting water quality improvement for that.
Cycling is coming along. My ammonia is staying down only topping out at 2ppm before daily pwc. After pwc it comes down to .25-.5. Its just a matter of time but for now
Well ive had tjese three a couple of weeks now. The dg mostly keeps to himself. The older dgs picked on him only cause he was sooo much smaller than them bit they didnt go out of their way. The two honey-sunset get along surprisingly well. I dont even see them do the typical dominance dance...
No. She died lastnight trying to pass her fry. :( over the course of several days i think she tried and for whatever reason didnt or couldnt. Id watch her shimmy at the surface and her birthing tube flex open and shut but no babies. Lastnight i thought she might be stressed by the other fish...
The typical ph HAD BEEN 6.8 but since the large pwc its up around 7.8. Thats where its wavering since lastnight. For my pleco to have starved it wouldve not eaten for days. He hadnt touched his cucumber in quite a few days. I'm very disappointed. He was one of my fish fish.
My phantom pleco just dies. Ive had him for months. Seems like he stopped eating even though he was offered blanched cucumber, wood and algea wafers. I know the large pwc stressed him out and the ph is back up from earlier.
