    Toadstool leather with bent stalk

Thanks, that makes me feel better. I'm going to leave it alone and let it settle in.

    Toadstool leather with bent stalk

Bought this toadstool 2 days ago and it is placed in moderate light and high flow. From the front, it seems healthy, all the little tentacles have popped out, but the stalk is totally bent over. Is this normal or should I worry? I had read that they like high flow, but could it have too much...

    What next?

Thanks for the urchin advice :) How long do you have to wait before adding one?

    What next?

Have a 29 gallon cube with 25lbs of lr. It has 2 ocellaris clowns, a shark nose goby, 5 smaller snails, a turbo, one emerald crab and 5 red leg hermits. I also have one zoanthid. Everyone seems to be healthy and happy. Can I add more fish? What are suggestions for relatively easy to care...

Id this small black thing, please.

Well, I got it out and put it in the qt tank. It appeared to be living in the zoanthid.

Id this small black thing, please.

No refugium, but I have a qt tank that I could pop it in. I probably would have done that if I could have gotten to it quick enough. After I snapped the picture, it disappeared. I'll search for it again when I get home.

Id this small black thing, please.

Can't be bad, can it? I've never heard of a snail that wasn't reef safe. I could be totally wrong about that, though.

Id this small black thing, please.

Just found this on my zoas. What in the world is it? Will I keep finding hitchhikers for the rest of my life?

    Zoanthid, is this normal?

Thanks, it's my first coral in my first saltwater tank, so a lot of things are still mysterious to me :). Now my little frag is happily nestled in the lr.

    Zoanthid, is this normal?

I have a zoanthid in my tank for a month and just moved it to the sandbed two nights ago when I had to move some rocks around to isolate a sick fish. Today, I found a piece had fallen off into the sand. Is this normal or did I damage it during the move. Can I pick this piece up and set it on...

    Sick royal gramma

I guess I might have to accept that the clowns were to blame, but I have a hard time believing it. They never seemed aggressive and I spend a lot of time watching tank. Could she have been damaged by the red leg hermits or the one emerald crab? The damage seemed to get worse during the night...

I hope she makes it, too. I posted a sick fish thread to see if anyone has any advice.

    Sick royal gramma

Have a relatively new saltwater tank. It has been inhabited for about a month. I have 2 ocellaris clowns and a royal gramma. When I added the gramma, she hid in the rocks for 2 days. Since then, she seemed to adapt and was swimming around in the open water with the clowns, only going into...

My first saltwater- 27 gallon cube

Well, regardless of what caused the problem, my royal gramma doesn't look so good. I went to bed late last night and the gramma went into the rocks and the clowns went to sleep in the corner after the lights went off, as usual. I woke up early and all fish were still sleeping. When the...

My first saltwater- 27 gallon cube

I'll keep an eye out for aggression, but someone is awake in our house almost all the time and the tank is in our living room, so I think we would have noticed. The three fish swim peacefully together, often in the same area, with no issues. The clowns do seem to have a territory they hang out...

My first saltwater- 27 gallon cube

Really, I don't think aggression is the issue. The royal gramma spends her whole day out and about with no signs of agression from the clowns. They swim near each other often and don't nip at all. They do fine during feedings, too. I'm hoping her fins heal up, so she looks pretty again, but...

My first saltwater- 27 gallon cube

Nope, no aggression that I've seen during the day and at night, the gramma goes into a lr cave while the clowns sleep vertically in the corner of the tank. Occasionally, I'll see the larger clown chase the smaller, but never any confrontations with the royal gramma. I though clowns were pretty...

My first saltwater- 27 gallon cube

Here are a couple shots of the Royal Gramma, one at the beginning and one from today where you can see how ragged he has gotten. The only thing I can imagine is that he's getting ripped up going in and out of the rocks.

My first saltwater- 27 gallon cube

We used an instant cycle bacteria that the LFS recommended when we set the tank up and tested to see if it really was instant with a dead shrimp. Truthfully, between the bacteria and the live rock, it really did appear to work. We've added livestock to the tank over the past 2 weeks. I'm know...

growing dry aponogeton bulbs from wal mart

Keep your receipt and the proof of purchase and you can return them to the company if they don't sprout. They honor their guarantee. I bought a pack of 4 and only 1 sprouted. I returned them and they sent me 11 more. 9 of those have sprouted :). Here are just a few of them.

    Plecostomus and amazon swords

I have swords and a pleco and the only issue I had was he kept hiding behind them when they were tiny and he killed one overtime by beating it up. Since then, the swords have matured and grown and I added a hidey hole for the pleco. No issues for a long time and he has never eaten them at all.
