    Help! Glosso dissappearing...

Hard to say with the phosphates in my water. They screw up all of the CO2 tables.

    Help! Glosso dissappearing...

Hmmm...I'll have to look it up, but I am guessing they are getting close to a year old. They are CF type bulbs. Maybe it is time to replace them.

    Help! Glosso dissappearing...

I have DIY CO2. I did successfully keep it for 6 months to a year, and only now it it dying off. Previously it grew and spreadout. CO2 is the same, light is the same, fertz are the same...only kH and pH have changed as mentioned above. Here is a pict of my tank from 7/25/06. You can see...

    Help! Glosso dissappearing...

I had a decent glosso carpet for a while, and it has progressively gotten thinner and thinner, to the point where it is almost gone now. All other plants are flourishing. :? Only change I can think of is pH. I have very, very soft water(kh 3, GH 4), and my apple snail's shell was dissolving...

My Planted Tank on the Balcony

I would add a glass top. It will keep a significant amount of heat in and have minimal effect on the amount of sun you get.

    What eats Brush Algae?

All of you with agressive SAE..probably have flying foxes...not SAE. Store ALWAYS seem to have them labeled incorrectly. A flying fox will eat BBA when young, but stops and gets agressive when older.

    Overfeeding?

Measure the nitrate and phosphate levels of your tap water. You may be adding them at every water change. You can't dilute it out if you have it in the dilutant. I have phosphate in my tap water.

    Tank Black Out without Airstone???

An airstone would not hurt. My tank would not have enough O2 if my plants were not making it. I don't have much surface agitation as I try to keep CO2 that I am injecting in. If I left my lights off for more than one night my fish would most likely be in trouble.

    BBA changing colors...

I think you just made it angry! Seriously though, I hope it is on its way out. FYI..it's technically a red algae.

Hurray!!! I found real siamese algae eaters!!(labeled flyin

yeah, I figured they would eat the flakes & green stuff before the black stuff. They actually had young and older. I picked up the older ones because I was afraid the markings on the youngers might change. I am pretty darn sure these are the right guys. (checked many articles and photos) FYI...

Hurray!!! I found real siamese algae eaters!!(labeled flyin

I bought two for my 29. I took a picture of some of the BBA I have on my equipment. Hopefully I can post a before an after picture in a few days. They haven't seemed to touch the BBA yet. They seem too interested in my glasso and eco-complete. There must be some better tasting stuff down...

    Carnivorous Foreground Plant!

I think it just digests little particles that wash into its pouches.

    BUBBLES!

I think its a great idea. Brilliantly simple. All the benefits of adding o2 to the water without surface agitation that will remove CO2.

    Which calcium for MTS?

I thought adding crushed coral to the filter would add calcium. It will also effect other parameters. I also have problems with very soft water, and my apple snail's shell deteriorated over time.

Worried - Is CO2 Killing My Fish

I second this opinion: You need to minimize surface agitation to keep CO2 in, but if you do too good of a job there won't be enough O2. Yes, if you have a healthy growing tank, the plants will make O2 during the day, but not at night. Many people turn on an airstone at night. I seem to have...

    Photo flood

Your 1.5 wpg CF is pretty close to the traditional 2 WPG NO since CF has higher output. That is what I meant. :-)

Thanks....I was actually contemplating a low tech 75 on my drive home tonight. Was thinking 2 wpg NO would be nice.

Question on Upgrading Lights on 29 Gallon

I have an unused daylight bulb that will work with the satellite. I bought it for the satellite, but never sent it back when I returned the light You can have it if we can figure out how to coordinate it. Better than throwing it out I guess.
