They were doing fine. All eating well an the rope is getting on well with the loaches.
I just noticed that the elephant nose has an injury on his snout. It seems like it got cut and a white piece of cartilage is poking out near the base. He hasn't been rooting and seems to be guarding it...
I have an elephant nose in a 36 gallon tank. His tank mate are-
5 neons
3 clown loaches
3 red fin blue tetras
2 black mollies
1 rope fish

He finally ate! I picked up some live black worms and segregated the loaches. I spot fed him with an unused medicine syringe and he gobbled them up. We were so happy.
Bought 2 tubes. He checked them out, but haven't seen him in it.
Still no luck with food. I'm going to try getting frozen brine shrimp, maybe he'll like them better. Tried hand feeding again. Put them in his face. He nosed them and passed.

I read that loaches and ele's compete for food. I think that I'm going to try to divide the tank to keep the loaches to one side.
When I started, I had ammonia problems also. My LFS said to do 20% water changes ever other day.
Your nitrite levels will spike also. Just keep changing your water. I don't like he idea of adding chems. unless its an emergency. Test your levels daily and change your water a lot.
