    Cory Cats Dying

Unfortunately, I doubt he will survive. I would remove him and put him in another tank so the other fish don't pick on him. I am not knowledgable enough to recommend which medication would be best. Sorry to hear about your cory. I unfortunately, lost all of mine from a mysterious disease so...

    Cory Cats Dying

At this point I am going to continue with the erythromycin that I started today for the next 4 days. The sick cory is moving around and hanging in there so I am praying that he somehow pulls through. I will give everyone an update after the 4 day treatment is completed.

    Cory Cats Dying

I have another sick fish. What's interesting is that their is no fin damage. I am thinking that fish may be attacking the sick ones because they are sick and I am not seeing that they are being nipped. This cory cat is very weak and swimming funny. I spoke to a manager at the fish store and...

    Cory Cats Dying

But why is it only affecting my cory cats? Only a couple of them were older. The others were 1-2 years old?

    Cory Cats Dying

Only one of the new cory cats died all the rest were established. I have one of the new ones living and three older ones. One is even about 10 years old. I am just sick about this and don't know what to do. The LFS are useless to talk to. I restarted the Paraguard until I get a better...

    Cory Cats Dying

My 90 gallon planted tank is about 11 years old. About 2 1/2 months ago I purchased two healthy looking cory cats. Within two weeks one of the new cory cats died. Shortly after that about every 3 days I kept on losing more. So far I've lost 7 cory cats. One day they are fine and the next...

    Sick Denison Barb :(

That's exactly what I did early last week. I did acclimate him to the 90 but he didn't do well so I moved him back to the quarentine tank. My daughter thinks he is doing better but I don't think he is ready for me to try to move him again.

    Sick Denison Barb :(

The temperature on my heater in my 90 gallon tank accidently moved and went up to about 89 degrees. Two fish (denison barb and rainbow fish) started shaking their heads. I quickly removed them to a 5 1/2 gallon quarentine tank and got the 90 gallon tank back to normal. All other fish are...

    need an opinion on bio-spira

I've used it twice with success. The first time was in my 10 gallon and it took about 5 days for the parameters to be perfect. Only the nitrites were a little high until then. The second time I used it in my 90 gallon planted tank and it was cycled immediately.

    UPS for Brownouts?

I have backups on all my fish tanks. The power went out one day and if I remember correctly, the backups lasted about 6 hours. Unfortunately, the outage lasted 2 1/2 days, so I ended up buying battery operated pumps. They were too noisy to run at night so I had to turn them off. I lost only...

My First Planted Tank- 90 Gallons

We set it up around Christmas time, using biospira so it was cycled immediately. I've been taking my time adding fish so I can enjoy that "new tank setup". It has been weeks since I added my last fish because the LFS is still trying to get the dennison barbs. I love having this size tank...

My First Planted Tank- 90 Gallons

I have trimmed the vals several times. My LFS suggested it so they fill out a little more with some more bottom growth and then let them grow. When they were full grown they looked really cool laying on the top. Yes, I am slowly adding some more stem plants as I find them. I like taking my...

My First Planted Tank- 90 Gallons

OK, here is my first planted tank. It is 2.4wpg, 1/2 flourite, 1/2 gravel and no CO2. I plan to add more plants but keep the same type of look as you see in the picture. I do have a problem with bright green hair algae on the glass and overflow, but it seems to settle down 2 weeks after a water...

    Reliable LFS

I've been dealing with Scott's Petshop for most of my plant needs. I am very happy with my purchases but now have run into an algae problem. I am a bit confused on their solution and information about fertilizing as what they are telling me is very different on what I read over the internet...

Why isn't everyone cycling with BioSpira?

Oh, but you still have that anticipation. I only added five fish initially. Purchased my next group and quarantined them for two weeks. This last group of rainbow fish were much younger than the LFS anticipated so it could be 2-3 months before I will move them over. I am also waiting for the...

Why isn't everyone cycling with BioSpira?

I think you want zero nitrites. Do you mean nitrates?

Why isn't everyone cycling with BioSpira?

I purchased one packet of biospira for my 90 gallon tank. I tested the water two days later and everything was fine. Total cost was $15. This is the second time I have used it. I used it for a 10 gallon tank and it took about a week for the levels to be perfect.

    phosphate

Actually, when I first tested for nitrates, it was zero. After dosing with fertilizers, it went up to 5 and I saw a slight improvement in the amount of algae. The biggest difference was when I added the phosphate remover. I am using Aquarium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. test kit.

I am using compact fl. by AHSupply. It's comes out to 2.4wpg.

    phosphate

I am not running CO2 and am trying to avoid using it. This is my first large tank, plus planted and right now, I only want to use CO2 as a last resort. My nitrates are 5. I fertilize using Kent products once a week to help with the nitrates and iron and probably a few other things. Hope this...

    phosphate

I justed tested my phosphate level and it is .75. I am currently adding phosphate remover as my tap water has high phosphates. It's been two weeks and after my last water change, I noticed an increased amount of hair algae. Should I replenish the phosphate remover or is .75 a good phosphate...

    My Birthday/Mothers Day/Christmas Present

My husband has read all of your comments and his head is now twice the size it was before he read all of the compliments. I used biospira so my tank was cycled immediately. Right now I have two plecos, 4 rainbow fish, 2 SAE's, 3 Yoyo's and 4 Cory Cats in there. It is also my first planted...

    I can't find my pleco!!

Something very strange is going on here. I decided to purchase another pleco, He's about 2 1/2 inches and albino so I can more easily find him. I put him in the tank, cleaned it and while I was looking around I noticed one of the SAE's was missing. I think he was there this morning but now...
